Original done by Dionne Warwick and Brook Benton. This is about as alternative as you can get.

Interesting band that never formally recorded, The Steampacket, with Long John Baldry, Rod Stewart, Julie Driscoll, and Brian Auger amongst others. This is a young Rod Stewart doing “Can I Get A Witness”.
I kind of broke my own thread request, I certainly don’t prefer this version over others but thought it interesting enough to post.

Wes Montgomery wrote it, Brian Auger's Oblivion Express takes it to another soulful, soft and bluesy, level:

I just looked through the thread and didn't see this one. Miles really messes with this one. I was at a performance of Guys and Dolls a few years ago, and they played this at intermission. Nobody I was with recognized it as being from the show.

Always loved the Beatles rendition of the Arthur Alexander original:

Little Wing - Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, and band mates really took Jimi Hendrix's original into lofty spaces:

A friend of mine suggested I check out this band, this is the only song in English I have found, don’t know where they are from but they sure can sing!! Here they absolutely nail this cover………
