People better not sleep on Don Brown landing one of these HC jobs. The guy can flat out coach, players love playing for him & he has a proven track record as a HC (95-45). While HC at UMass he was 4-2 against UNH when Sean McDonnell was their HC & 3-1 against them when Chip Kelly was their OC. Hope he is here for the long haul but with all these vacancies i am fearful. Whoever gives him a 1A program to take over will not be disappointed. As Smallwood stated in the Jeff Jacobs article "we were just out there trying to make plays for each other. Coach Brown is the best DC in the country & guys just feed off of him"

Endzone Diva -- shhhhhh!

Wonder if B1G has seen this Globe article - sure ACC has :)

BC Fires Football Coach and nobody cares...

"Boston College, the only Division 1 program in Greater Boston, fired its football coach on Sunday. After four disappointing seasons, bottoming out with this year’s 2-10 bomb, Frank Spaziani was relieved of his duties by new athletic director Brad Bates. And nobody cares. BC firing its football coach is no different than the New England Revolution sacking their head coach. It’s a scrawny birch tree toppling in a forest of mighty oaks. It doesn’t matter. That is the state of college sports in our region."

That's true right now but when we were ranked #2 in the country it was total different. Boston loves winners if we win we will be fine. As for this hire I'd keep an eye on Al Golden not saying its gonna happen but there's more of a chance then people think. Other than that I'd look at Diaco if I were Bates. Have to say Bates is very impressive thus far let's see if it continues with this hire.

What BC fans do not understand is that their "#2 ranking" was the result of a once in a lifetime situation (Matt Ryan at QB) which will probably not happen again. That is what a great QB can do for a program; look at Auburn immediately before and after Newton as an example. The chances of BC ever becoming relevant again are very slim. Everyone loves a winner, not just Boston.

Free at last, free at last!

Thanks for the offer HFD. If you sit back and think about it, the complete destruction brought on by Spaz is pretty impressive, and he earned a contract extension out of it!

At last, the rebuilding process begins. Everyone (including myself) has been very impressed with master Bates in his month here. From the process of firing Spaz (done in the complete opposite way GDF would handle it) to immersing himself in all BC sports (I've seen him at more hockey games in the last 2 weeks than I saw Gene at in 5 years), he's made a great impression. Ultimately however, his legacy will be heavily tied to who he brings in as next football coach, and based on his comments, he understands the significance of the hire.

As to the above, no on Brown
Gene was at the hockey games, you just weren't looking down.
