I've had two Dell Bios updates on a new (December) Dell Laptop (Inspiron 5000) and both "finished" with the computer screen blank and the keyboard unresponsive. The second just happened. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? The power button is lit and the keyboard back lighting is working. Dell help will, with an hour and a half phone call etc get it back up and running, but I'm wondering if there is a defect that will plaque this machine forever?

Any suggestions or similar experience?

I don’t want to alarm you, but the third time it happens, the computer straight explodes.

No blank screen, no lifeless keyboard, no nothing. Just a mushroom cloud.

My advice is to just wear really heavy gloves and maybe a helmet whenever you use the computer.

You’ll be fine.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series

Since an update in late Dec or early Jan my laptop has restarted without warning every day. It happens at various times of the day and after various times of operation. After the restart it works normally.

Identical. Oh sigh.

We really need a dislike feature. ;) When will one of the true nerds appear to say hold down the Z key and F12 simultaneously and voila ! Head bang

This is Maya...and she thinks the problem might be caused by overheating.
