OT: Dan Hurleys favorite restaurant

If you remember when he joined the Huskies as head coach and they showed his profile his favorite restaurant at the time was The Matunuck Oyster Bar in the East Matunuck area of RI. It also happens to have been one of mine, “have” because of the pictures attached. Last evening they suffered a terrible fire and this will leave many other RI spots with overload because from 10:30am -9pm you’re lucky to get a table in this place during the summer. Sucks looks like Two Ten Oyster Bar a couple exits down just added a bundle of fans. It’s good as well but not as.

We were going to Matunuck in July but I guess not any longer. Any suggestions for a good place around Narragansett? We can't seem to find many good restaurants around there.

Coast Guard House. Decent food with great views of Bay area

I like Spain it’s solid….if you want Italian and seafood Arturo Joes also a fav for my wife and I eat at the bar. In the same area The Mariner Grille always has a good meal too.

As far as the second best seafood wise this is a good call:

All my RI friends were posting about this on Facebook. Pretty awful for a long time location with a huge loyal following.

I would say Coast Guard House is one of those spots that gets away with average food because of the scenery. Of course, you can't screw up oysters on the half shell.

Spain doesn't have any of the view but is the best food in that area, IMO.

That's my view on Coast Guard House also. Good for lunch but for a nice dinner it's not on my list.

Been to Spain once. It was good.

Agree, was a great spot with good food. I hope they are able to rebuild soon.

Makes sense - he was coming from Rhode Island so no doubt some favorites there.

Hope to get an updated list of CT restaurants they like - though likely enough to see where he likes to eat in Cincinnati when he watches the Bengals.

Yup… same area of the Commons. A few good eats in there. Had points to burn a few years ago and stayed @ the Hilton property as a home base.

Yes it is. I’ve walked in there with my wife before they were open and they were very nice. Just thinking about the other side of town!!

Great. Unlike Connecticut, when the Dock and Dine got blow over by a storm. The owners were not allowed to rebuild and now there is nothing there.
