UMass fan support has collapsed. Last year, BC averaged 5.5k fans and UMass averaged 3.5k.Syracuse is always top 3 in the nation in attendance. BC gets less fans than UMass.

During a year in which the ACC is worse than the AAC was, no less. There is a very real/likely chance that Cuse's record this year will end up way worse than anything we saw during our AAC dark days.
Of the top of my head, that NIT game. Only time they ever let me in the lower bowl of Gampel. What was the low point for attendance for UConn games in Ollie's final year? I'm way too lazy to look up but did Gampel or XL ever get less than 7k for an Ollie game?
The perfect tri-defectaYou see the bottom of the ACC and you got Cuse, BCU and the Canes. UConn's three biggest backstabbers. Since none of 'em are going anywhere, maybe they can create a trophy between the three of them. So they have something to play for. The Pyrrhic Victory Cup.
Oh yeah. What was the low point for attendance for UConn games in Ollie's final year? I'm way too lazy to look up but did Gampel or XL ever get less than 7k for an Ollie game?
Oh for sure. But if BC was ever decent, alums would care enough to go, and travel into Boston for big games. I don’t see much potential for that in Syracuse, other than relying on a town full of people with nothing better to do to fill the stadium. The perspective I took to make that call was someone who attended BC and stayed in Boston or moved elsewhere in the Northeast. If I went to Cuse, I would need a really good reason to trek back into that dead-end town to suffer through losses; Boston itself is, to me, a fine reason to come back to campus and watch my team loseExcept that nobody outside BC grads cares about BC athletics in Boston. It's a private school and they don't have a wide following. At least that's my experience. Do you get that impression also?
Oh yeah.

I could go on....... I'm sure this is a major reason why Ollie was ultimately let go.
Not sure. I would assume sold tickets since that's what they usually report. But were there really only 3000+ tickets sold to a couple of those Gampel games? I would think there were way more season tickets at Gampel than that so maybe it's actual people there. Anyone else know?Just curious but are those tickets sold or actual attendance?
Has to be tickets sold. By the end of the Ollie era the suits stopped showing up.Just curious but are those tickets sold or actual attendance?
No, and it’s really nice! Are there any teams that abandon the Big East who ever succeed?
Miami, Syracuse had Final Fours within recent memory. But have been awful otherwise. The rest, has been a mess.
Yeah - there is oneAre there any teams that abandon the Big East who ever succeed?
Totally get it. I find it difficult to continue to be spiteful as we keep racking up championships.I don’t. It’s just a constant reminder of how UConn got left behind mostly because of spiteful things done by former Big East teams ( BC, Cuse, Pitt and Ville) in the hopes of killing off our program (petty jealousy) and some self destructive decisions by the school, Wrong school president, lazy AD, no foresight as to the consequences of staying in the BE long term and being too trusting and gullible concerning the motives of other schools desire to get out primarily BC and Pitt. Remember when JC swore he’d never play BC and Pitt in basketball ever again because of their behind the scenes dishonesty to destroy the BE ( Pitt) and block (BC) UConn’s admittance. All of the other states that were home to
a BE school had pro sports if I’m remembering correctly and more than 1 major sports school except for Connecticut so the dissolution of the league was a much bigger disaster for Connecticut sports fans. I currently live in Fla and we have 10 pro sports teams and a half dozen major college sports teams in Florida so the damage to 1 college sports department wouldn’t even be a blip on the Fla sports scene. Thank god for some recent good luck ( DB, DH, JM ) in adding some highly successful coaches to GA and Tom Penders ( baseball?). JMHO.
Announced crowd of 19,750. Looks like 15 thousand people made the right choice to stay home last night

I went to a game in Ollies final year at Gampel (UCF) and was shocked at the attendance. Seats in the upper level behind the benches were half full and those are the true believers. The building was dead. But to show how shellshocked the fan base was resulting in the drop off in season ticket holders in Hurleys second season we played and lost to St Joes at Gampel. Attendance was 4,081. We had a big comeback but fell short. The few there were into it but I was thinking we have become invisible on the National stage. Bouknight arrived the next season and we were on our way back. What was the low point for attendance for UConn games in Ollie's final year? He will get at least one more year. He has a great class coming in (for now) and they would owe him a nice bag of they fire him. That said, a fair evaluation of him happens next season.I really want them to start winning a few games or else they are going to fire Autry.

I would be surprised if they potentially risk the class (especially Anthony) by firing him before next season. I think he’s got at least one more year.Syracuse will have a new head coach in 2025-26. Hardly unusual to see a team struggle after their long time hall of fame coach retires. Sometimes the new guy is successful at first but that often fails once he is on his own without holdover players. As I said on another thread if everyone Coached as well as Boehiem There wouldn’t be a hall of fame.
