A lot of their fans are jagbags and they took great pleasure in kicking us when we were down but I don't particularly like that Syracuse is sucking. I wish they were still in the conference with us, I wish we still played them all the time and I want them to be good. I always want Syracuse, Georgetown, and St. John's to be good.
uh, no.

"lucky," "fluke," "didn't play anybody"

OK, maybe in 2014, maaayyyybe in 2023 (though we killed everybody, albeit so-so competition), but last year we played an 8, 5, 3, 4, and 1 seed, and beat them badly.
You play who they put you against. If you are playing higher seeds in later rounds those teams beat some good teams to advance.

No apologies if you win six in a row and the National Championship.

Not a fan of Rutgers, but I'd really like to see him be successful. Too many "branches" from the UCONN coaching tree have failed...
He is very successful….he signed a 16M extension. It’s a win/win…he got paid-Rutgers continues being Rutgers.

I’ll give you Gtown and St. John’s, but Cuse can’t suffer enough. Up until a couple years ago before reality set in they always thought they were on the same level as the blue bloods. Their fans are insufferable because UConn became what they always wanted to be.

I believe was not an easy task, beat a 1 2 3 and 4

10 St Joseph's
2 Villanova
3 Iowa St
4 Michigan State
1 Florida
8 Kentucky
Completely agree. That Nova team was probably a little over seeded, but still wasn’t easy like most say.

Syracuse is the one school I wish rejoined the big east

This has hostage video written all over it.

The fact they actively push to keep us out of the ACC is more than enough to constantly enjoy their collapse at hoops.

Cuse lost to Dayton, St Joes was a better team then Dayton.

I hate all 3 but I can certainly understand wanting Georgetown and St. John's to be good because it would help the conference and UConn if there are good teams in the Big East. And Georgetown and St. John's have bigger upsides, and more easily attainable upsides, than a lot of the other programs in the conference.

But Syracuse? What UConn fan gives 2 poops about them? The entire campus could be swept away into Lake Ontario and I wouldn't care.

I enjoy northeast basketball and their games used to have a lot of juice.

College basketball is better with a good Syracuse and a good Georgetown.

2023 was not so-so competition. 2023 was 1 of 5 years since 2000, where the national champ defeated 5 teams in the KenPom top 25, AP top 25 (fact check needed) and other top 25 analytic websites. Anyone feel free to fact check this as I read this and then verified this from an article after it was written in early April 2023, so it's been almost 2 years and I am going off of memory.
It was San Diego State that took out the #1 overall seed Alabama in the Sweet 16 and took out Creighton in the Elite 8 (yes it was a foul by Nembhard).

I remember thinking, "oh damn UConn might have to play this team" when I was watching that Miami team defeat #1 seed Houston and #2 seed Texas. Miami's offense picked them apart. I was definitely worried about Miami in the Final Four match up.

I believe you are talking about Stockholm Syndrome if I am not mistaken.

Who cares? Every single fanbase in the country hates UConn right now. After we win our first tourney game this year go on any fan site and you'll see Dan Hurley and uconn hate. Guarantee.

P.s. @superjohn I agree 100% with your post. The roadrunner got fat and lazy when W.E.Coyote gave up. Uconn fandom is that much more rich with a good Cuse.

There was a time (it covered more than 30 years) when I felt pretty much the same way. I wanted to see all BE teams do well, and it felt quite a bit better when we started to clearly lead the conference.

From around 2010 forward there has been too much animosity from opposing (BE) fan bases and too much back stabbing from other schools for me to really care about how good or bad any other school does.

I do find some humor in Cuse being in their current situation but it would not bother me at all if they did or did not find a way to being competent again.

If those other schools do well, whatever. If they flounder, whatever. My only concern is that we do well

If you just rearranged the order we beat the teams to:

First round: 10 St. Joe's
Second Round: 8 Kentucky
S16: 4 Michigan State
Elite 8: 3 Iowa State
Final Four: 2 Villanova
Finals: 1 Florida

You'd have what would look like an all-time gauntlet, almost a 1-seed toughest path except replacing the 16 with a 10.

There was a lot of luck (injuries, location) but they beat the overall 1 seed in the semifinals and a Michigan State team everyone figured would win the title if not Florida. They earned that title.

Huge bubble game tonight against Georgia Tech tonight. Up 25-24 at the half
