OT: Coach's Sports Bar coming to downtown Hartford...

Great memories. My favorite place on Thursday nights was Dagny’s.
That was a favorite of mine. I used to work in the old Hartford Times building before it became UConn Hartford so Dagney’s was very close.
You must be about my age. That’s where we used to go. We still laugh that we used to stay until closing and were at work by 8:00 am the next morning with no problem. If I tried that today I’d be asleep at my desk by noon.
These posts make me smile
Dagny's DJ here ... best nights were Thursday Happy Hour w/ Cool Runnings on the patio - 800 people through the door ... ... fun fact, Dagny's lease was $300/month (not a typo)

Hot Tomatoes started on Ann and then moved to Asylum and finally to the train station. I really enjoyed their cheese bread which was sold in local stores.

Boppers replaced another favorite of mine, Mad Murphy’s on Union Place.
If you want to experience Hot Tomatoes today go to Salute where the entire staff and chefs and mangers went. Salutes is right on Trumbull street on the park. Same garlic cheese bread.

I’ve been to Salutes multiple times but unfortunately I now live 1200 miles away. Salutes and co-owner Jimmy were always very generous with free catering when I was on the Board of Directors of a Hartford nonprofit. And the food was well received by the patrons of our Wine Tasting event.

Hey Gars. Nice to see the old Yard still around. Hope you’re doing well.

BTW....was downtown last night before the UConn hockey game. The Rockinghorse Saloon on Ann St. is now The Dark Horse Saloon. Still good deal on drinks. No more country music. All classic rock last night.
The Rockinghorse Saloon was a unique place. I was there about ten years ago and was surprised when all the waitresses got up on benches and started dancing while clicking their boots. They did this at set intervals.

Corner of Pratt & Trumbull. I remember that location as "the Bar with No Name" back in the 90's.
This would be the third location downtown for a Coach's.
But it looks like this one has no ties to Jim Calhoun.

Haven't been to game in Hartford in a couple of years. We’re going to a noon game in February. Are any watering holes open around the arena by 11:00?
Thanks for any help…
I’ve called bars/ restaurants before early games in the past…and got a lot of misinformation from whom ever answered the phone…and websites are often not updated with hours,..particular for game days.
Thanks again!

Still around. Nothing of any particular interest to say. I stopped complaining about UConn basketball a long time ago. Six NCs is a good reason to stop complaining. Nice win at Providence, huh? Nothing worse then losing to the fryers. See fn 1.

Talking to the owner of the Dark Horse Saloon on Ann Ucello st, they open at least an hour and a half before games. Today they opened at 10:30am for the depaul game.

I don’t know that you or I had much of interest to say 30 years ago. 😉 if you go to any Gampel games, DM me here and let’s grab a drink.

Gars I also hope all is well, good to see you pop up. Last time may have been at the bar across from the UConn Health Center in Farmington during a get together many moons ago.
