OT: Bill Belichick

I think Brady and Gronk going to Tampa and winning a Super Bowl and now being in all kinds of commercials and shows has broken Bill. It's like he's trying to be a spring chicken now.

I think Belichick will go down as one of the greatest GMs of all time. Why? He was able to compete (and win) year in and year out in the salary cap era when it is almost impossible to maintain consistency. He placed certain monetary values on positions and he stuck to his guns and he didn't overspend any given year in order to win over the long term. The way he and Dante Scarnecchia developed and built OLs over the years really stands out.
One counterpoint to that is that Brady deferred a ton of money so the Pats could spend it on other players. There are estimates of 60-100 million dollars. Over 20 years, that's say 4 million a year. I think much of this occurred in the last half of his tenure so maybe more like 6 million for many of those years. Kinda makes the GM's job much easier.

Yes, Brady did help with his contract deferrals, but I think the Pats had won 3 Super Bowls and been to 5 Super Bowls before Brady started restructuring his contract which I think started in 2013 after he had been with the Pats for 13 years. And, it seems most top QBs now restructure their contracts to allow their teams to be competitive.

Someone should tell you it already has, then when you say "I don't remember being with a hot 24 year old" they can reply "it must be your dementia that's keeping you from remembering".

Everybody wins.
Except me with the 24yo.

I always thought it was he just didn't take as much and less that it was deferred. Maybe im wrong

Regardless. If Brady was making his full nfl worth he wouldn't have had as many titles

He only made about 26 mill a year.

There was no doubt in my mind that the report wasn't true. Anyone with half a brain knew that would end with Belichick quitting. And I have no doubt UNC has serious buyers remorse. Like the rest of us, they didn't realize the reality of the situation. They need to start looking for a replacement now. BB has always had an amazing ability compartmentalize but that was when he was at the top of his game.

A diminished Bill Belichik is still far superior to some of the hires we've made. And the frenzy over his relationship with a younger woman who deals with a bunch of the crap an older guy who is in his position doesn't have time for really is typical of male dominated sports media. Let's not understate how many of them and a percentage of fans are jealous of the guy in general. All that said I think he is unlikely to magically transform UNC into a top 10 program. But in the ACC there are opportunities for success and just like Glen Campbell and Tony Bennett, he may forget a lot of things but not the one thing he is great at - in this case coaching.

If UNC wants to have a blowup tear it all apart season, Diaco is your coach.

“younger” woman is a bit of an understatement.

I think the sub issue isn't that she's being "mildly protective" its that she's using him as a launching pad for her own immature interests (photoshoots, acting, etc)

The fact Belichick never mentioned Kraft in his book, not once, really says something. About him. Kraft knew what a mistake it was for Tom Brady not to finish his career in Gillette. BB also had Gronk at the end of his rope emotionally, so he retired only to come back to play again with Brady in Tampa. Belichick is not worth the hassle for any NFL owner at his point.

Brady left more because of Kraft than Belichick. Kraft hung Brady out to dry over Deflategate and I don't think Tom ever forgave him. That whaaeveritwas last year came at a hefty price tag, I'm sure.

The irony is Bill never wanted any circuses or distractions around his teams, and now he and his piece are the center ring main act.
Amazing what some people will do for (more) money and women, eh??!!

Kraft Bob is not someone to trust. His sincerity is false
