Saw this one a few months ago when I was out during lunch and was able to snap a picture at a red light. Together with the license plate frame, it's hard to beat:

Driving to work, from Essex to Middletown on Route 9 north, I’ve seen a dude in a mid-aughts Porche Carrera convertible, top down, mid-winter, with ‘1PERCNT’ on his plates. Ostentatious douchiness at its apex, IMHO.

Extremely well-played ostentatious douchiness

When I lived in CT back in the '80's, I applied to DMV to get the license plate 4Q2. Got rejected. Also tried I 12 4Q. Didn't get that one either.

We have a verrrerry strict system for accepting/denying applications for vanity plates.

driving home from New Hampshire today in northern Massachusetts. ‘URMUMU’. While near his hometown it was not a member of AOs family

Mumu translates to swell guy. So I'm told. Good to know someone has such a cheery license plate.

I know who's car that is.

You may be right. That's all I'm saying.

As soon as CT allowed 7 characters, I thought it would be great to get "GENERIC."
Alas, I'm not a vanity plate kind of guy.
Funny - I've been looking for a unique plate in California where we have 7 characters and that is one the I searched for and was taken. Likewise taken: PLATE, PL8, MY PL8, THATPL8, CAR, and just about any way do to HUSKIES, HUSK1ES, HUSKY99, UCONN, UCONN1, etc.

Things I can get: SLLYPL8, SILYPLT, PL8T, THINKBG (nobody here would understand), THISPL8, 4 UCONN (and therefore I could actually get <HeartShape>4UCONN), DUMBPL8, but I think I've settled on ZEE PL8 (I drive a Z4). Thoughts?

More than once I've seen a likely former car's license plate that makes no sense now that it's been placed onto a different brand or model (i.e., "DANSZEE" but it's not a Z).
Struck me as odd. I wouldn't want to go through a similar process with each car.
Is GENER1C available?
6ENERIC?
6ENER1C?

In 1970 or so, a high school student from West Hartford successfully got a plate inspired by the Grand Funk Railroad song,"TNUC."
30 some odd years later, my daughter was sent home from her fancy pants day school for wearing an shirt, even though it indeed sported her specific Senior class color. "It stands for 'French Connection, U.K.'" did not present as a winning argument. I'm certain she still likes having done it.

Well, ZEE PL8 works for anything if you say it with french accent.
