OT: Best bacon egg and cheese in CT

Lebanon Green Market(reincarnation!!)

Grab a Bac/Egg/Chz and a coffee and tour the Green. You'll hear the ghosts of Rochambeau and Washington planning the Revolutionary War at the War Office

Chefs bagels in Cheshire

Country Cow has get to be the most overrated thing I’ve ever had in my life. Definition of mediocre, just like every nyc bodega BEC
This is the way bodegas and many breakfast restaurants do their eggs for bacon, egg, and cheese and it's the worst possible way to prepare eggs, IMO. That's why it's better at home.

Eggs should be cooked slowly on low heat.

Break the yolk so you have white on one side and yolk on the other. American cheese. Bulkie roll.

Country Cow is the GOAT. I dig Tasty Yolk and frequent for basically everything other than the BEC - they even do good tacos when I'm too lazy for Don Rene. But those rolls are far too rich and dense. Not trying for a pre-noon food coma.
I haven’t found anything close to a Country Cow BEC in PA. Which is weird to say bc it’s so simple.

Not all bacon is equal. I like applewood bacon coated and baked with real maple syrup which supercharges it. In fact forget about the egg, cheese and bread, just put that bacon on anything and everything, cornflakes etc. Put it on a Snickers bar. Delicious, just don’t forget to schedule your angioplasty.

Maybe I'm crazy but I swear Chinese food in Connecticut was way better 10-15 years ago. I've always had my go-to spot but would try others and they weren't too bad. Now a lot of places are absolutely horrible.
Unless it is a higher end sit down type deal, all the family owned take out in the state are all supplied out of the same wholesaler out of the Bronx and yeah corners are being cut to keep prices down.

Restaurants have gone downhill since Covid in Chicago. I have to imagine this is happening in many places. Price of ingredients and cost of labor have gone up and restaurants are getting away with what they think they can get away with to make more money. Skimping on quality of ingredients, skimping on portion sizes, and the meal prices keep going up. I'm surprised more places haven't closed yet but I'm starting to see more closures and I think the industry may be at a breaking point if changes aren't made.

It's a tough business and margins can be razor thin but people know when they're being taken advantage of. Two examples of historically cheap food everyone likes where things have gotten comically out of whack are wings and pizza. There are places serving mediocre/bad pizza for nearly 40 bucks a pie and the amount they're charging for wings is absurd and quality has gone down. I can tell you the ingredients they're buying aren't nearly expensive enough to justify the pricing. There was a wing shortage once upon a time but we all go to the grocery store and know what wings go for, the gouging needs to stop and the quality needs to return or we will see more and more places close.

Literally taking this all the way across the country, I am forever ruined trying to find a better breakfast sandwich after St. Patrick's Day 2021 in Fairbanks, Alaska. They have these free standing drive thru coffee and sandwich shops which are about 80-100 sq ft. One of them specializes in how the staff dresses. On this particular morning with the temps about -30 degrees, the employee handed me my coffee and sandwich wearing a see through green thong and two well-placed clovers. A $20 tip for an $8 meal seemed justified.
I’m sure he appreciated the tip

Yeah that makes sense. My local place is still pretty good, so maybe they make some more things in-house or have a different supplier. It's probably 90% as good as it used to be. The other places food all tastes the same. I always know it's going to be garbage when I get the seemingly same egg roll that I've gotten at 3 other places.

I haven't ordered wings in years. They all suck and are way too expensive.

I'm not sure what the aversion is to freshly made gas station food. My favorite deli used to be in a gas station until it was sold.
Absolutely
It is a legit small kitchen. In the south and Midwest you can get quality food from gas stations.. we are not talking about a 12 hour 7 11 hotdog

Anybody been to Julien’s yet in Granby? They are supposedly have a kickass BEC on a biscuit (with brisket on Sunday’s) plus great French pastries and coffee.

It’s a bit out of my way but I’ll make the drive one of these days.

I believe bacon egg and cheese is on a tier system, and there is a certain level you can get to that is perfect and you cannot rank once you hit that level. But if you have a good roll, a properly cooked egg and enough bacon cooked to your correct level of doneness you hit a point that cannot be improved upon. That said my go to is billy d's full belly deli in shelton. However there are several places around which are also perfect

Dave & Charlies Hometown Deli opened on Strawberry Hill Avenue in Norwalk about 3 years ago and has become my go-to (non Italian) deli. Does a super BEC, occasionally I get it with pepperoni as an addition. Terra Nova rolls/bread from the Bronx every day (most of the places in Ffld County use Cassone's, Neris or one of the Portuguese bakeries in Bridgeport). Top of the line, every cop and tradesman in Norwalk flock to it.

Jim's in Plainville. The Yogi is freaking awesome and a cardiologists dream as well. Sausage/egg/cheese/hashbrown/hot sauce on a cheddar bagel.

I get gas from there all the time. But no, I would never get a sandwich there or any gas station.
In this area it's the land of green chiles, and there are breakfast buritos and chilaquiles everywhere. But the only place you could get a decent BAC was at a deli in a local gas station. The guy who ran the deli was from NYC. You could also get "pork roll", egg and cheese if you knew to ask for it. Sadly the guy drowned a few years ago and it's not the same - they changed to off-brand english muffins and the egss are usually cooked to death.

That's why I asked. It's all "product".

That's where I get my fried chicken.
We have a terrific fried chicken place that's a little kitchen attached to a gas station. It's legendary in these parts.
