Are all you people forgetting about the a present New England Patriot and Bristol CT native Aaron Hernandez. This guy is a top 10 TE in the League right now. Pay him some respect!

Do you know anything about the players union? You know how many players went to officials and asked to be tested every day, the answer is zero. Your argument is really lame, you are clearly assigning guilt to players just because you think they took steroids with no proof whatsoever. I'm glad that our justice system is not designed to operate this way, people like you would be finding a lot of people guilty with no evidence.
I agree with you, superjohn. I think Mau is upset because Bagwell has a good chance to get into the Hall of Fame and Mattingly doesn't.

Never mentioned Mattingly and didn't compare 60'sdude, and hell why would I be "upset"?...........if he gets into the HOF I congratulate him and he won't be the 1st cheater in there I'm sure and there will be more to follow........by the way I don't believe #23 should be in did you know that?.............I just laugh when people who get in did little more or even less and make it..........get it right

Here's a few names I didn't see: Joe Lahoud, Andy Robustelli, Marcus Camby, Gary Cobb and Ernie Cobb. Also, Steve Tosches (the Princeton football coach was a three sport star at Westhill.) Have to give a mention to Ken Green too - after the accident. Watched him at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open a year after the accident and he is even par after 12 holes. Incredible. I was a student at Westhill during the early 70s when Enoch Gainer and Ernie Cobb battled it out in some incredible Westhill-Stamford High games. My best memories of high school. Always remember Rippowam playing a slow down offense to be competive.

How about Tom Penders, Dave Bike, Billy Riley ( from Harding ), certainly Murphy, and Valentine

I guess if steroids are allowed we can throw Bagwell on there.......otherwise he really has no right to be mentioned with Jenner, Young, Murphy, Burrell etc etc..........
Bagwell's stats never really changed from his early days and the steroid era. Look at his numbers so unless he was using steroids before everyone else the fact that he didn't get better is sad. He has NEVER been in any report, had any player bring up his name or anything about steroids. It's sad that Cal Ripkin Jr used steroids since he played in that era as well.

.-.
Bruce Jenner, Calvin Murphy, Bill Rodgers...
Here is someone who got the right idea. You should be one of the best your sport ever had to be at the top of the list. Olympic decathalon gold, NBA HOF, & greatest american runner move to the head of the class. Willie Pep is still considered one of the greatest fighters ever. Marlon Starling won 2 boxing world tiltes. Joan Joyce IS the best female softball player ever! Kristen Lilly is the most decorated USA soccer player ever. Dorathy Hamill olympic gold, Steve Young, Robustelli, Leetch are all Hall of Famers, and Freeney should make it one day. These are the names to talk about.
Scott Burrell played minor league baseball and had a good not amazing NBA career. Rick Mahorn, Tubucky Jones, Rob Dibble, Jonathan Quick, REALLY!

It's been a while since I posted in this thread but let me mention Walt Dropo again

While at UConn, Dropo played for the football team, basketball team and baseball team. Dropo was drafted in basketball and football and oh yeah, he was American League rookie of the year for the Red Sox.
  • Rookie of the Year (1950)
  • All-Star (1950)
  • Top 10 MVP (sixth, 1950)
  • Led league in RBIs (144, 1950)
  • Led league in total bases (326, 1950)
  • Tied an MLB record with 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit (July 15, 1952)
  • Tied an MLB record with 12 consecutive plate appearances with a hit (July 15, 1952)
  • Tied an AL record with 15 hits in four games (July 16, 1952)
  • Dropo was the first rookie to top 100 RBIs with more RBIs than games played (144 in 136 games, 1950)
