Ot: ACC doomsday scenario

Which is best:
A. ACC gets locked out
B. ND misses playoffs
C. Alabama misses playoffs

I think B is just as big a win as A, if not bigger

Has the ACC uneven revenue distribution kicked in where the better teams (UVA, Miami, Georgia Tech, Duke) get more money than the crappy teams (FSU, bcu, cuse)? Gold.

Yeah, the committee didn't want to leave the ACC out. I think Notre Dame got jobbed, their losses were the first two games of the season against top teams by 1 and 3 points, and they played a tougher schedule than Miami. Even Texas was better than Miami.

How is it good for Notre Dame to be left out? It just emphasizes that independents are second-class citizens. That hurts us.

I guess you could argue it's slightly more pressure for ND to join the BIG. It's my dream that ND wakes up one day and says yes to the BIG and they take us as a package to get to 20. Everyone expects them to raid the ACC but imagine they take ND/UConn out of nowhere. I'm dreaming, I know.

Maybe Texas shouldn't lose to Florida, a team that Miami beat and maybe ND should, you know, not lose to Miami.

It's not good, it's not bad. It just is.

Would the playoff be better if ND were in? Sure, if you're a ND fan. The same is being argued in Provo, Nashville, Durham and Austin at this very moment.

UCONN ain't involved so I don't have a rooting interest. However, I DO think college football is better when the Hurricanes are relevant solely due to the inevitable entertainment value (battle fatigues, turnover chain, Nevin Shhapiro, The Seventh Floor Crew, etc.).

Re: this season:

Schedules are made far in advance and you don't know who will be good and who will suck in a given year. So ND scheduled Miami, TAMU, USC and I guess Boise St. while UM scheduled ND, Florida, South Florida, FSU, Louisville, SMU and VaTech (the last three as a function of conference affilation; FSU would be there no matter what). Going simply off of program history it was reasonable to expect that those 4 ACC squads would field a competitive product, same with UF. Viewed through that twisted and tortured lens then UM clearly played the tougher schedule when put up against the P4 dregs that filled the remainder of ND's slate.

Any Possibility Notre Dame is going to tell Acc to suck it and move back to BE? Obviously UConn will agree to help them get in the BE If they offer a home and home or 5 year deal at Fenway or Yankee stadium.

Because screw ND. Doesn't affect UConn, we're not gonna be in the CFP conversation as an indie and we shouldn't be indie for long.

I know we do that in hoops, but even there with the First Four we’ve started knocking out minor conference champs before the real first round. The chances of a Miami Ohio beating an Ohio State in football is much less than doing so in basketball.

First four should be the last 4 at larges. Conf champs should all play 1st weekend. But this is football, so please limit the tangents to just me...

They need the ACC so they can keep the football scheduling deal going. As these other leagues add conference games, there will be fewer P4 games for ND to schedule. The ACC may be willing to give them this deal, but no other football league would.
