Oskar Giltay Commits to UConn

His stats are very good for what we'll be looking for out of a backup C. Chol is going to Georgetown to start, so doesn't seem likely
Yeah but just a project now on the offensive side. He is fine for a backup 5 but I need to see how else we are going to fill out the roster and especially at the 4.

I want that, that, that, that, that and all of those need to have a lot of stars attached to their name.
Looks like a UK fan. Every time they whiff on a recruit, they're salivating for the next recruit on the conveyor belt.

I'm starting to think that part of why Hurley doesn't go after the beanstalk rim running high jumpers if because they don't set the kind of picks needed. High centers of gravity don't translate to his system. Also part of why Reibe didn't work out - I don't think that kid liked contact. It got to the point where to avoid contact he'd just hug players - it got weird. He can go play squishy in Muss' system.

Excited for this addition. Welcome to UConn young man.

I love the defensive potential of our team next year. We will need Oskar and Najai to put a ton of work in this offseason on their offensive game especially IMO.

I understand if we were looking for him at Center but I think he would be a better fit at PF for us. Not going to happen anyhow but he did have a really nice skill set and played stronger than he looks.

Defense should be a juggernaut. A bit worried about scoring. There's still a little more work to do in terms of players who can be counted on to play and produce.

The rising soph window is really great for additions. you get 1 year of highly informative college play to filter out the extreme noise from high school, and the price is not too bad either because you can identify underpriced players easier with the data.

high impact, high ceiling fresh + portal adds with upside and system fit/synergy.

this guy's lack of offensive versatility is probably why stanford didn't play him down the stretch, but as long as the guy can set a screen and pass a bit he'll be fine here.

I tend to think these two spots will be last year guys that want to be part of the experience. I agree with you that we need some gray hairs here. We don’t need long term, competent serviceable bodies, something like Koroma but better, and like Smith.
Nah, Borges said these last two spots will be a guard and then a forward and then the rest of the roster will be filled out with the Koroma/Millender/2 Euros types

Agree 100% ... curious how you think they fill out the rest of the roster?

I think we clearly need another combo guard who can score and is steady with the ball and another big guy. Those two players and then fill if out with emergency players/practice players.

I still wonder if there's plans for Jacob Ross to get some minutes next season.

Last season we had 9 guys who could really go before you got to Koroma and Millender. Right now we're at 8. I hope we get to 10 guys who can really go. We need a point guard/combo guard, I'm hoping we get Christian Jones or someone at least at his level. We also need another big guy. All we have is two 6'10 guys. It's short compared to what we're used during this run and short compared to the other top teams we'll be competing against for the top prize. Then we can fill the roster out with Koroma and Millender type guys/practice players.
Not sure how we'd use the additional height - you reach a point where you're simply not going to be able to attract quality because of the minutes left. A 3rd playable big is a luxury.

We may be able to sell a decent guard given they should get good minutes - with Solo back next year, would also see that as senior unless they want to find a high upside PG out there to battle it out with County. We're going to need an experienced PG.

Offense is going to hinge on Khamenia blossoming into the 5* he was pegged to be. It'll be hysterical if we can turn him into a stud the year he left them.

The 1-2 year transfer really is a great profile, for all those reasons you stated. You can cut out the guesswork - watching these HS kids play against inferior kids physically or in these ridiculous AS games doesn't give you a clear sense of how they respond. I think Hurley recipe is likely going forward with HS is similar to this class - get one advanced kid you can plug in ASAP, and another one capable of coming off the bench to provide minutes.

I think Giltay will have rim running potential. He's long and has spring, 1.2 blocks in 14 minutes.

If Jacob can be brought along as more than a practice player, that'd be great for depth and long term continuity / culture.

Your thinking makes good sense to me.

Staff knows far better than me, and he isn't really a 4 in our system, but I'd love to see us get in on David Fuchs from U of San Francisco. I think he'd add more of an interior scoring ability than we currently have on the roster. 6'8, strong as a bull, good rebounder too. But if he isn't a skill fit, I doubt we deviate from the system that has served us so well.

Eager to see how the puzzle pieces come together.

Welcome Oskar! This is a great pickup by coach Hurley and staff. From what I’ve read he has a high ceiling and I’m sure he has some smarts coming from a high education school like Stanford. Go Huskies!

Giltay? More like heel toe dosey do, amirite?
(Trying to add more country music references for increased Big12 compatibility)

We're an injury to one of our bigs away from playing Khamenia or Landrew at center. We're depending on a 4 star combo guard in a really weak class to be our only other point guard. He doesn't pan out the same way past freshmen point guards under Hurley didn't pan out or he gets hurt and we're completely screwed. Those are the two most important positions and we can't just have Giltay and County as the only guys.

I see it as essential getting another combo guard who can play and produce and same for another big.

I would like us to go after Allen Graves from Santa Clara. He came off the bench for them. The question is... what is his price tag?

Curious as to what position Jacob would get minutes at? Two or three?

He's either going to the NBA or going to start on a national title contender. The price tag is way too big and we already have our starting power forward.
Rumor is LSU if he does play CBB. Duke has sniffed around - which would be mind blowing if they can add another giant $$ and push a top 3 5* to the bench, along with 2 other kids. Duke will be like 13 deep, many very playable.
