Definitely a good recruiting opportunity for Oregon State since they have a good chance to win.

Oregon State has a real good chance of winning today's game. I looked at their roster. They have eight (8) players 6'-2" or taller led by their 6'6" senior Ruth Hamblin.

GREAT START:
- Oregon State has opened the season with eight-straight victories, and has been rewarded in the national rankings, coming in at No. 7 in both the AP and USA Today/WBCA Coaches Polls for the fourth-straight week, matching the highest ranking in school history. The Beavers started the season ranked No. 9 by the coaches and No. 10 by the AP.
- The Beavers have started the season 8-0 for the second-straight season. Oregon State opened the 2014-15 campaign with 10-straight wins.
- Oregon State is one of 14 undefeated teams in NCAA Division I, and one of three in the Pac-12 (Oregon, USC).
- Oregon State has been dominant so far this season, holding the sixth-highest scoring margin in the nation at 28.1 points.
- The Beavers have controlled the glass this season, leading the nation defensive rebounds per game (35.0) and sitting second in rebounding margin (18.8).
- Oregon State has also been one of the best shooting teams in the country, hitting 48.2 percent of its field goal attempts (12th in the nation) and 39.2 percent of its 3-point shots (17th in the NCAA)
- The Beavers have seen a big jump in their free-throw percentage early in the season, shooting 79.2 percent (first in the nation) from the charity stripe through the first seven games, compared to 68.3 percent last year.

OREGON STATE QUICK HITTERS:
- Ruth Hamblin, Jamie Weisner and Sydney Wiese have all been named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List (released Dec. 9). Oregon State is one of three schools in the country to place a trio of players on the list, joining Connecticut and South Carolina.
- The Beavers have had at least one player score 20+ points in seven of their last 10 games.
- The Beavers have held all seven of their opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the floor.
- Oregon State is coming off its first ever Pac-12 Conference Championship, having won the regular-season title last season.
- The Beavers were selected as a No. 3 seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament and hosted the first two rounds of the tournament at Gill Coliseum. The tournament appearance was the second in as many years for Oregon State.
- Oregon State set a school record with 27 wins in 2014-15, shattering the previous record of 24. - The Beavers also notched a 16-2 mark in Pac-12 play.
- After taking on North Carolina and Tennessee in nonconference play last season, Oregon State will again face a challenging slate in 2015-16, with a schedule that features a home game against Tennessee on Dec. 19 and a road matchup with Notre Dame on Dec. 28.
- Oregon State will be in the national spotlight when it takes on Arizona State on Feb. 1, as it makes an appearance on ESPN2 as part of ESPN’s Big Monday coverage. The Beavers will be one of 15 women’s teams in the nation to make a Big Monday appearance this season.

FORTRESS GILL:
- Oregon State is 32-3 in its last 35 games at Gill Coliseum, dating back to the start of the 2013-14 season.

- The Beavers have not suffered a regular-season nonconference loss at home since they fell to Notre Dame on Dec. 29, 2013.
- Oregon State leads the Pac-12 in attendance with an average of 4,004 fans per games.

The turban, cape and the tea leaves all say Oregon State wins this one.

Oregon St is a 10.5 point favorite over the Lady Vols. it could be a long flight back to Knoxville.

Haven't played the Toughest OOC Schedule and because of that I'm not surprised they're undefeated. However, like so many other of the undefeated teams, Oregon State is probably for real. If they win the PAC 12 with one loss and at least split the ND & Lady Vols games they have a good shot at a #1 Seed. The Stronger teams in the ACC and Big 12 might knock each other off and end up with more losses then Oregon St.

If Oregon State wants to join the Elite Status they have to strengthen their OOC Schedule.

As my old uncle used to say, "The devil is in the details".

OS may be 10-0 but only 2 of those teams have winning records - Hofstra & Idaho. Neither of which are WBB powerhouses. If it was any team other than TN I'd bet that OS is going to get slaughtered but, it is UT we are talking about. So reality sets in and says that the LV's choke again and sleepwalk through this game.

Really hard to handicap this game

UTenn is due to give at least a a half-decent effort
If that occurs it might be enough.

But if they continue along their current path.
It's difficult to imagine just how far they'll fall.

Thought this quote was cute... saying the PC things for sure...

"It’s another opportunity to get out there, see what we can do as a group, see how we handle whatever they throw at us because they’re a very talented team, very well-coached team. So it’s going to be a lot of fun to see how much we’ve progressed throughout the year and see where we’re at right now in the season.”

Mmm Hmm. I see that OS is a 10 point favorite, but I still think this is a pick-em game. OS had a tough battle against Marquette - and only beat a pretty crappy Arkansas team by 16 (Ark is 3-7 - not sure if OS played down to the competition or not but they needed a huge 4th quarter to secure the MOV).

Honestly there's nothing about OS that stands out as particularly impressive. Wildly inconsistent (lost the 3rd quarter to ARK by 13 and had a 3 point lead to start the 4th quarter). Those are games they should win by 30-4o as a top 10 team. OS was actually down to Marquette at the half but rallied for a very close 7 point win. Point is, this is not an OS team that's thumping lesser opponents - they seem to struggle every step of the way.

Clearly I'm hoping for a beatdown, but I would not be surprised to see Tenn win this game and then hear how "Tenn has righted the ship". I'm not sure that Oregon State is a very good bellwether for that...

The article did mention that Tennessee is well coached. I also like the way they are coached. ;)

Yes, that's when I realized that the subject was a fantasy.

Yes - in looking at ranked teams and undefeated teams a few stand out for the paucity of competition they have played - by Massey SOS rankings:
Maryland - 130
OrSt - 135
USC - 120
Northwestern - 126
Missouri - 116
OkSt - 127
Miami - 166
and MissSt with one loss - 149 rating

When you consider teams like Baylor come in at 51 and UGA at 61 you realize just how terrible the schedule has to be to get ranked above 100!!!

Hamblin is an excellent player and an All American. Tenn will struggle to contain her.

If OS has a decent defense Tenn is in deep trouble. Even without pressure this is the gang that can't shoot straight.

Now there is a statement to be considered. Moi, I would not be so subtle.

The bad part about eating a plate of "cold" crow (which I'm doing as I write this), is that there are no side dishes know to man that can make the consumption of crow more palatable. When I'm wrong, I show up to take my lumps, and eat my crow. So here it is..........I WAS WRONG!!! I never figured that O. State would tank on me.

I don't know what got into the lady Vols yesterday, but they managed to pull out a squeaker yesterday at Oregon State. The "epiphany" I thought I had turned out to be nothing more that a whim. That "gut feeling" I had turned out to be gas. It will be interesting to see if they can build on this win, or if this was just a lucky shot in the dark.

I think I'll back off from doing any more prognosticating until I can have my ensemble checked. I'll be taking the turban and cape in tomorrow to be recalibrated. Oh well, enjoy your Sunday everyone,

Carnac the not so great. :(

OSU got behind early and did well coming back. Got within 1 point on two ( maybe three) chances. To battle a major program, like the Lady Vols, is huge. The Beavers are a legit WBB program. Up next Cal Poly and then 12/28 Notre Dame.

Not much of a struggle....38 minutes and 6 points. She did rebound well.

That is about all I take away from this game. ie they are a women's basketball team. They just lost to a mediocre team on their home floor. Let's see how they do against 'really ranked' teams. The LV's should be unranked - they have difficulty putting up 50 points a game. Let's not get silly here.

Apparently the Vols had a four hour players-only meeting.... I'm not reading much into this game - until they can prove they can consistently match effort and team play.

I don't see how anyone could consider this a "momentum builder" for the LV. If OSU shoots anything close to their season average on 3s, they win big. It was nothing more than a stumbling contest between two mediocre teams that, by the rules, one of them had to win. UConn beats either by 30-40 points.
