2016 team being the best ever? I thought UConn's 2014 team was their best team of those 4 championships.
Now there’s an interesting matchup between 2 undefeated UConn national champions. The 2014 team had the Big 3, who were great, but not as great as they would be 2 years later. 2016 had Kia, Gabby, Lou & Pheesa. 2014 had Steph, Bria, KML & Kiah.

My prediction is that a series between the 2014 UConn Huskies and the 2016 UConn Huskies goes 7 games, with the 7th game going into triple OT, with the winner being.............

Jon Samuelson was sitting up there somewhere with daughter KLS. KLS went against the family tradition and chose UConn.
Mike in Storrs, if you say it, you have to deal with it. I"m still on your side.
UConn did win 37 straight after that game. I'd rather lose the second game of the year than the last game of the year.
 Ok then I'm not even going to mention the game Stewie and Moriah lost to Kia Nurse in the Pan Am Games.

In the offseason we've had polls and debates. It's all preference. Nothing can be proved. I think in our polls here 01-02 was regarded as best ever but I could be wrong.

You also have others who voted for others I believe such as 08-09 or 09-10, or 94-95- or loved the benches of 99-00 or comments of 00-01 if healthy etc so they were GOAT.

I would put the 13-14 team 4th.

Hoping that this year and next 4 thereafter we'll have additional debates of how great these new teams are neck-and-neck with the other all-time great teams. I have to say--with Azzi and more terrific recruits in her class coming next year- and having 2 seniors (maybe 3) and 2 juniors along with Paige and company getting a hopeful sophomore leap-> next year's team looks frighteningly awesome.

I think 2016 wins handily in 4 or 5 games because they were the deeper team with the big 3 peaking together. 2014 was the year Tuck was mostly hurt, KML was injured. Bria’s senior season was not her best - Sophomore season was. Kiah stokes also did not have her best season in 2014.

Since this is “fantasy basketball” let’s assume everyone is healthy. Agree with your take on Bria, but Kiah really began to be an impact player off the bench during the 2nd half of the season.

While I also agree that the 2016 team was better, the one thing that made the 2014 team incredibly formidable was their size. There were times when Geno had Steph, Kiah & Stewie on the floor at the same time. Opposing teams struggled to get a rebound or get off a shot in the paint. Now add back a healthy Tuck and things start to get really interesting.
