It would seem that with the number of 3s and the accuracy of players today we would see more players going for over 40 - even 50 today. And the speed of play means more shots. Plus the shot clock. Just curious. Anyone know the stats on high scoring opponents?

Jack (the shot) Foley from Holy Cross went for 56 against us in 1962. No 3 point shots back then. I think Bobby Lloyd from Rutgers came close once. Ronny Perry again from HC went for 46 once. I think Ray Allen pushed 40 a couple to times. I don't think even Dr J came close at UMass. Mid 30s appears to be the ceiling today.

1998 NCAA’s, in the 2/15 game against Fairleigh Dickenson, Elijah Allen laid 43 on a Husky team that started Richard Hamilton, Ricky Moore, Khalid El-Amin, Kevin Freeman and Jake Voskuhl. Husky’s won 93-85.

I remember Lindsey Hunter going off against us playing for Jackson State in the '93 NIT 1st round up in Gampel. Finished with 39 pts and they beat us in OT.

And of course last year Teddy Allen scored 37 for NM State in that NCAA 1st round dumpster fire.

How many did Trent Tucker get?
35, which is the record for most points by an opponent at XL Center.

jeremy lin?
Jeremy Lin had 30 against us.

The UConn MBB media guide has the top opponent performances at XL and Gampel, but it doesn't seem to have top opponent performances in road games. Scottie Reynolds of Villanova has the Gampel points record with 40, tied with Bouknight against Creighton.

The games that really stick out to me have been named, Darius Rice scoring 43 against us and hitting the buzzer beater when Shamon Tooles threw the inbounds pass right to him. Lindsey Hunter going wild, I was at that game. Elijah Allen scoring 43. Steve Novak going for 41 pts. and 16 boards.

I'll add freshman Scottie Reynolds scoring 40 against us as a freshman at Gampel. Preston Shumpert also always used to kill us, him blowing kisses to his girlfriend in the crowd was sickening.

This Charles Jenkins thing is all kinds of wrong. The date of the Hofstra game is wrong (we played them the year before) and he only scored 25. He did score 40 on that date, but against Binghamton.

On February 15, 2005 Waterbury product Ryan Gomes, playing for Providence, dropped 37 on the Huskies in a loosing effort.

The infamous Calhoun interview regarding Gomes took place the prior year after Gomes scored 26 points and had 12 boards in a game that Providence won. It was UConn’s only home loss of the season.

This is pretty wild, completely makes stuff up. We didn't even play Notre Dame that year! For a minute I thought this would be a gold mine for obscure basketball stats.

Now I get why UConn didn't join the BE for so long! They didn't want Markus Howard dropping 40+ (or in Providence's case... 50+) on them. Had to wait out his graduation! :D

had to look up ryan daly from saint joseph's because it felt like he had 50 against us back in 2019.

but no, it was just 30 points on 27 (!!!) shots lol
I remember he was 0/11 on the season coming in from 3 and then made his first 6 3's in the first half. He cooled off after that.
