Opening Weekend Series v. #4/#8 Louisville in Lakeland Florida (Fri. 2/15 @6p, Sat. 2/16 @3p & Sun. 2/17 @ *12:30p*)

Some pleasant surprises from the pitching staff this weekend.. Wallace, as expected, did a great job. Dandeneau has stepped up and Avery Santos had 2 shut out innings today. Joe Simeone had a decent appearance that he can build off of. Jimmy Wang got his feet wet and Jeff Kersten did a great job on Friday night.

Overall, against a really good opponent, you couldn't ask for more.

Dandeneau had a great summer ball season, so I expect good things from him this season. Good summary of the pitching pieces this weekend. Kenny Haus had a quality debut for the Huskies as well yesterday. I expect Gardner will have better days on the mound.

If the pen can pitch quality innings against UL, I expect less agita against New England teams.

Anyone know if they'll have video highlights at some point?

I didn't see a whole lot of cameras except for those held by fans or scouts.

We are already ranked or close to ranked in most polls. I expect a top 15 placement.

We outplayed them today. Great win, kinda glad it wasn't very close after what happened yesterday.

Onto next week!!!

Bill Belichick should be waterboarded daily for foisting "onto (insert team, etc. here)" on the nation.

Not that they have had many chances but... The Huskies grabbed its first series win over a top-five ranked opponent since Penders took the helm in 2004.

I am curious what our record overall vs top 25 clubs is under Penders. I bet it is quite good.

Wichita is (surprisingly) bringing down the conference a bit. With their facilities, they should be a power.

Disagree. Wichita State is very very young and performed as about expected. Grand Canyon is under rated, Stanford is a top team, and Peperdine is a top team in WCC.
No one expected much out of WSU this year.

I meant they are dragging us down a little this year, not overall. I'm very happy WSU is in the AAC, they were a very good addition.

They have enough hitting in their line-up to be competitive IMO. Hoping they will turn it around.

D1Baseball drops Louisville from 4th to 8th with no UConn in sight. BaseballAmerica drops Louisville from 11th to 12th with no Huskies in sight...

Kendall Rogers commented below on the D1 rankings. Having trouble copying and pasting but basically UConn was in the next 10 and they didn't want to drop any preseason top 25 teams after 1 weekend. Just another reason preseason rankings are dumb
