Bottom 7th, after 2 strike outs, Garbinski gives up a 2 out single and a double which drives in a run, 9-2 Nebraska.

Another single drives in a run, 10-2 Nebraska.

A single followed by an RBI double drives in 2 more runs. 12-2 Nebraska.

The game is over due to the 10 run mercy rule. Ouch!!

oh my flush that one immediately. Looked like two different teams out there. Despite mercy rule goes in books same as 3-2 nail biter.

Penders Era record in game 1 of the season falls to 6-17.

Luckily he has a winning record from game 2 on.

They looked a step behind last night. West was out of sorts. More max effort, ball 1 pitching. Most important pitch is a first pitch strike. Did not look consistent with the new strike throwing plan. Dalena is a statue at 3rd. Not good with 3 lefties starting.

I caught the game on TV by accident. Our hitters looked over matched. We had base runners aplenty via walk. But our contact was weak.
