So, I'm rewatching the game as I convert it to DVD. I was prepared to moan and groan my way through the game as UConn stumbled to a 40 point blowout win but I was surprised. In the first half, UConn had some bad turnovers and the three point shooting was ugly but after the 6-6 tie, there wasn't a second of this game where it felt like the Huskies weren't in control. What made the game feel closer than it was were the announcers raving over every defensive play and made basket like it was LeBron & Co.

"UConn makes a jumper for a 23-10 lead. OH, OH, MARQUETTE WITH A GORGEOUS INBOUNDS PLAY!! OH, MY GOSH THAT WAS TERRIFIC!!!"

Anyone listening to the game would have thought that the Huskies had to hold off Marquette but, really, that isn't anywhere near what happened. Those of you that DVR'd the game, watch it again with the sound turned off. BTW, if you do decide to listen to the announcers, the homers were funny the second time around although a lot of their analysis sounded like wishful thinking re: fouls, travels, etc.

They were Homers, but it was an ugly game to watch and UCONN still plays too sloppy and cannot keep the person they are guarding in front of them. Why?? These are elite WCBB........It looks like their feet are in cement.....IMHO, ND has dribble drives to the hoop at will and UCONN has no answers or fouls.....

UConn currently leads the NCAA (Div 1) in Field Goal Percentage Defense (29.6%) and Scoring Defense (45.0 ppg). The rest of WCBB teams must really suck.

TO's where not the issue, too many missed open shots........That game could have been a 60 win........Where is our Post play?.......ND like to scratch, punch and push people around and this team has not likened to that type treatment. maybe, they can fight back tonight.......

Sorry but they shot 49.1% on the game and 57.7% in the second half with 23 assists on 27 baskets, again not sloppy and all without the higher %s that come with post play. Of course, KML is now posting up regularly.

1st of all, UConn would never have had a 60 point win. The subs would have been in earlier if the score seemed headed in that direction.

2nd, the Huskies shot 3-14 on threes in the first half but was 9-15 on two point shots (60%, for the math challenged). As I sai in my OP, the shooting from beyond the arc was ugly in the first half. That does happen sometimes, you know.

3rd, Geno, the Hall of Fame coach that called the MU game a good win, made half time adjustments. In the second stanza, UConn was 6-9 from three (67%) and 15-26 overall (57.7%). That's not pretty good shooting, that's damn good shooting.

4th, the "sloppy" play in the first half resulted in 11 assists on 12 made baskets and 6 turnovers. In the second half, there were 12 assists on 15 made baskets and 3 turnovers.

5th, UConn was getting points in the paint, just not by big girls. In fact, UConn outscored MU 16-8 in the paint.

You're all vapory because the game didn't pass your eyeball test. I don't know what you were watching but if you would (or could) watch the game again objectively you'd see a pretty good win.

this was one great line - possibly one of the all time great comments on our board. not because you were picking on anyone, but because it was clever and you pointed out (probably correctly to many) that while the game didn't "appear" to look good to the normal TV viewer, it was really fairly solid. i do think lately Geno has (by necessity) been tweaking the way the team runs offense. KML posting up, Tiff and Kelly posting up. not necessarily playing with a smaller team, but having different looks to the offense as it seems defenses are really swarming our "bigs" and lagging off Kelly.

you know, when Bria or KML has an off shooting night, people just sort of gloss over it as "some nights the shots will fall, others not". but if our post players don't average double-doubles combined, there's cause for alarm. i'm probably a tad guilty of that too as i'd love to see Kiah/Stef combine for 16/10 every game. but if we are effective scoring other ways, then a W is a W...

They were funny during the live telecast also!
