Well, first you don't take arguably the best player in the conference out of your starting lineup. He's our only big that has any post moves and the only one you can dump it into to get a basket. If you take anyone out of the starting lineup it would be Martin or Whaley, I would prefer Martin and put Hawkins in. Hawkins in that lineup doesn't have to handle the ball as Cole and Jackson would be the ball handlers.

The starting lineup would be fine if Martin can finish around the rim. We know what Whaley is and we know the same for Jackson. Cole is being asked to do so much. Ball handling, running the offense, three-point shooting, driving to the rim and getting fouled, etc. He has no help. It comes down to our lack of production from our bench and lack of three-point shooting. Also, our offensive sets when we aren't running or able to throw it into Sanogo. Being down double digits and clawing back has to do with Hurley's lack of adjustments and lack of timeouts used. He did use one early in Nova which was good but he's not consistent.
I’m not suggesting not playing Sonogo. The team needs him playing at a high level for 30+ minutes a game. The team most likely will not be successful with 2 point or zero point first halves from the best player in the conference per comment above. How should Hurley deliver that message to him?

He can be the best player in the conference but he needs to play well for 2 halves, not one. He‘s played several games like the best in the conference. Team success depends on him playing every game like the best in the conference.

I’m a big Adama fan, but disappointed in the last few games, knowing what he can be and can do. Here’s hoping he returns to best in conference form starting tomorrow. However the message is delivered, it needs to be delivered. Adama, the team needs you at your best all game, every game.

I am not sure what the lineup fix is, but one thing I do know is not starting the most consistent player on offense is not the shake up they need.

I really hope that with how the last couple games have gone that Hurley switches it up alittle. If nothing else to just to throw off the scouting report some. The first 4 minutes against Nova the team looked ok until Whaley and Sanogo had the touch fouls called. But I do agree with most that Ajax should try coming off the bench. Either start Hawkins or Gaffney to help Cole. The team is just so limited on offense it’s hard to watch. Defense hasn’t been great either. The team has the potential to be a contender with anyone in the BE but they need to figure something out soon and Hurley need to stop being so stubborn.
Why would you expect this?? What gives you even a modicum of hope that it will happen?? He’s looking at this as a 15-6 team w a couple close losses. Not a team that is CLEARLY reeling. He has done nothing in two years to change anything up. Which is why we continue to lose to teams that are well coached and/or similar talent wise. After recruiting and initial game plan, coaching is all about adjustments. As Mike Tyson famously said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Our coach needs to learn how to counter punch/change strategy or he will never have more than limited success.

The idea of putting Hawkins in the lineup for AJ is at least intriguing. Right now we’ve got 1.5 players in the starting lineup who defenses cam more or less ignore in the half court set (the .5 is Whaley when he’s on the perimeter, at least until he stops hesitating for 2-3 secs to pull the trigger on that 3- if he even shoots it at all- when he’s being left alone). On the other hand, pulling Sanogo would be complete lunacy.

I think Whaley for Adama at the start and Hawkins getting a start. Nothing from Adama the last 3 games in the first half. The team needs a wake up call. Looking for a bounce back from Adama.

Hurley needs to shake things up.
Curious if we should still bench Adama, thoughts?
