BC basketball was never competitive; .

But this would be as wrong headed as saying " Uconn football has never been competitive with BC football ". Of course, BC has been competitive in Basketball at various stages in both the BE and the ACC. BC has won BE basketball regular season and BE Basketball Tournament Titles , and has won ACC Atlantic Division Basketball Titles and gone to the ACC Tournament Title Game ( 2006 ) losing to Duke at the buzzer 78-76.
Its also true that BC's national Basketball history does not compare favorably at all with Uconn's Basketball history ( neither does Uconn's national football history compare favorably at all with BC's national football history it goes without saying too, of course ). Its just simply misleading to state that " BC Basketball was never competitive". Of course its " been competitive " at various stages of its play in the past. BC has beaten Uconn in Basketball lots of times, despite Uconn being primarily a College Basketball School, and have become over the decades the dominent college Basketball program in both Men and Woman's Basketball not only in all of New England, but in the US as well.

Wait until UCONN starts winning Hockey East championships and competing for national titles.

The priests will be out for blood.

uconn has played half a season in this league. Lets pump the breaks here, oh wait, and theyre below BC (arguably one of the worst BC teams in last 25 years) in the HE standings as of today? Ill wait on those championships tho.

And once again, for those that want to say that national championships in hockey mean nothing, the womens bball titles you all like to talk about mean less. The sooner you all realize that there is one, and only one sport that means anything (a sport in which uconn is hands down one of the worst in the country), the easier it will be to realize how LUCKY you are to be a bottom feeder in the AAC.

This made up rivalry stuff should just be buried. Its never going to happen. BC has its fb rival (in conference, 2 most northern teams, comparable recruiting bases, etc). Uconn has their rival (SMU in the battle for the AAC basement). Just enjoy it and move one

In am ideal world UCONN would play both Syracuse and BC in the same season. Unfortunately, BC is afraid of the competition in the region and Syracuse doesn't have much hate for Husky football as the Orangemen already had 'bigger' rivalries with Penn State and West Virginia.

You are just kidding yourself that moving forward that Syracuse football fans consider West Virginia a future " football rival " This is 2014, and about to be 2015. Syracuse football fans think of West Virgina football these days about as much as it thinks of Major Harris these days. Even Penn State is no longer on their radar screen frankly anymore as a " football rival". Also, as mentioned earlier no game can become an annual rivalry game unless both fan bases and both schools see it as such. BC in this respect considers the only other Catholic Univ. playing FBS Major College Football as its chief" rival "( ND ). But as mentioned earlier, its not a " Football Rivalry" in the most apt definition of the term as ND does not consider it so., plus they don't play every year .So its not, and will probably never become one. BC will likewise never become Uconn's " rival " in football, even if the two schools agree in the future to play a game every so often. Its just the way it is.

Agreed up to the last line. If BC played UConn every year, lost half the games, and was fighting UConn for New England recruits year in and year out, it would become a rivalry quickly. As you say, Notre Dame doesn't reciprocate, so even if BC fans had the most passion for Notre Dame, UConn would become a close second.

If Uconn was in the ACC, and both BC and UConn played each other in the Atlantic Division of the ACC each season, this might have the effect of replacing Syracuse as BC's future " annual football rival ", in my opinion. But you are spot on in your analysis, ie, not only would Uconn have to play BC every year( either in or out of the ACC ), but they would have to win 3 or 4 games before it would become a " rival " game for most BC football fans and Alums... especially the BC Alums post 1995 or so, as the majority of today's students that attend and graduate BC these days are from outside of New England altogether, as was mentioned above.
