Seven quick thoughts about the Bobcats' 96-95 home win over Milwaukee to open the season:

1) Kemba Walker can get his shot off against anybody, but what's even more impressive is his toughness and his quick hands. He scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in only 20 minutes -- his play and his burgeoning friendship with Panther QB Cam Newton (who was seated courtside) are the subject of my column for Tuesday's newspaper.

More from the Charlotte paper:

Even f it doesn't last Bobcats win was fun, nice comments about Kemba included

I watched the game last night. It's probably the first NBA game that I've sat and watch the whole thing. It was a very fun game to watch. The charlotte crowd really loves Kemba and he was all smiles and looked like he was having a great time.

I do miss his grin. :)

I've heard the line about Kemba being listed at 6'1" but being "undoubtedly shorter" multiple times the last few days. Everyone is saying it. I know we used to say it too last year, but he was measured at the NBA combine as being 6'1". You'd think it would be official at this point.

What part of a Hilton unit does this work out to be?

Kemba's not 6'1". I've seen him on campus. He's probably 6'0" (my height).

6'1" could be accurate if he's measured while wearing shoes.

Who cares how tall he is at this point? He was already drafted and showed in one game that he can play in this league. It's irrelevant now.

That's how everyone is measured now.
