@Tim_Fontenault: Omar Calhoun will likely be out for at least a week after a right knee MCL sprain he suffered in practice Sunday. No definitive timetable.

Which means he almost certainly will miss the first exhibition game. Let's hope he's ready for the second one a week from Sunday. The last thing Omar needs is to be behind the 8-ball before the season even begins.

Not a serious injury but any setback for Omar is bad news, going to be hard for him to carve out a lot of minutes.

goes without saying that it depends on the severity, I remember Lamb being diagnosed with a sprained MCL on the last game of the 2011 regular season against ND, but then playing in the opener of the BET and every game thereafter while sporting a knee sleeve. I also recall Denham Brown being diagnosed with the same in the 2005 BET but still playing in the next game(a loss) and then in the tourney and didn't look nearly as good as he did to close out the season.

We could use him. SCSU is ranked #2 in the nation. I don't think this will set him back much though.

No need to worry here. I feel he is driven to get past last year.

Bad news for us since we're hearing about it now. Good news for him and the team, since knees popping or giving out can be pretty scary, and an MCL sprain with a quick recovery time could feel like a new lease on life. Quite possible he was fearing a season-ender when it happened - MCL sprains are painful, and often times, you get the ACL/MCL combo together.

Possible the trainers might have been able to rule out an ACL on the stress test, but you can never be totally certain until the MRI comes back.

I hope it's a quick recovery and I hope OC doesn't go the Rudy Johnson route during his tenure at UConn!

But, Denham Brown once scored 111 points in a high school game.
