Can't hit a home run with every recruit. So far Omar is a disappointment but he has two years to turn it around.

He played well last year. The surgery has something with his play this year.

Do we really need to hate on Omar again? Every game there is a thread on him struggling. I'm sure no one feels worse about his play than he does. We don't need to rehash it every game here.

He needs to play within his game. Right now he should not be shooting threes or difficult takes to the rim. He's not playing smart.

I disagree. He missed two open threes and a baseline layup. He's not going to break out of his slump but passing up quality looks. Ollie has him in there because he still thinks he can contribute. Truth is I felt bad for him when both of his threes rimmed out.

He can't play - PERIOD. Can't make a shot and he missed his assignment on the glass for an easy deuce. He is a minus when in…..foul trouble only!! otherwise no more mid game attempts at regaining his confidence because it's GONE…...

The kid is snakebitten this year. Even his good shots rattle out. I bet we see a much improved Omar in 2014-15, but he is lost this season.

He should not be shooting wide open threes. It was a layup, but it was heavily contested. Samuels played a lot more than Calhoun today, and shot less. Calhoun needs to understand how he can help the team this year - and its not shooting.

I feel bad for him. He's obviously not right. At this point the whole season has been a waste for him. If everyone knew he'd be like this it would have been better just to redshirt the whole season and recover and get ready for next season. Hopefully in the long run he overcomes this.

Both of his 3s were in and out, and when he went to the bucket he got fouled. I'm not going to kick the kid when he's down; there are plenty here on the Boneyard who get off on that kind of thing.

Its not kicking the kid. I like him. I hope he's a different player next year. I think coming off a major surgery has impacted him physically and prevented him from getting in the shots he needed to get in this past summer.

With that said, he can't be a liability for the team this year if they want to make an NCAA run. And he is a liability everytime he shoots the ball. He's 25% for threes and 32% from the field on the year. He simply should not be shooting.

I don't think that's true. He can still help the team. He can chip in 5-10 minutes, keep other guys fresh, rebound, play defense and slash to the rim. That's what he should be doing.

I don't get off on that kind of thing I want the kid to do good……and I want the TEAM to do good. His PT is not doing the TEAM any good and this is no time for dress rehearsals or confidence building time with a guy who lacks game. Hope he does great things again in 2014-15 but for now he does not play at all if the Kromah, Giffey, Shabazz, Boat and Samuel do not have foul issues. it's really not hard to see how little he brings to the table right now and can blow all the butterflies up his butt you want but I want the Huskies to win!

Unnecessary post. The kid is obviously just nowhere near the player he was before the injuries. He has zero explosiveness anymore, but probably works his ass off. No need to bash him.

Can't disagree more. His job is to shoot when he is open. KO is giving him the opportunity. He just hasn't responded. KO then sits him down and doesn't play again in the game. I like that KO hasn't given up on him. We don't see practices where he maybe hitting these shots. Right now he is snake bitten. I hope he keeps working hard and hopefully he will contribute before the end of the year.

I don't want him taking 10 shots, a night, but wide open 3s should be in his repertoire. Both of those shots were in and out, and obviously he's showing some good things in practice. Honestly, do you really think his 5 minutes today hurt the team? If Ollie benches him or tells him to stop shooting altogether, he's going to destroy Omar's confidence and lose his trust.

What a jerk port. The kid is obviously just nowhere near the player he was before the injuries. He has zero explosiveness anymore, but probably works his ass off. No need to bash him.

It's not bashing. It's critiquing. He came in and popped off 3 quick shots, all of which missed, and two of which led to Cincy baskets.

I'm not saying anything inappropriate or rude. These kids are big kids, they play basketball at UConn - they're fair game for respectful criticism.

I'm really pulling for Omar. But, give him some time against USF, UCF, Houston, Rutty etc. Once he shows signs that his confidence is coming back then give him minutes in games like today

Unfortunately he's not doing any of those things, and we're almost 30 games into the season, because he's either not physically able to or he's lost confidence. Or probably some of both.

Have you seen him do any of those things well in the last 2 months?

I already went through this in another thread so don't really feel like getting into a long argument again, but the bolded part is my problem with this post. This isn't a video game. Omar is a human being, and like the McDonald's All-Americans that sit the bench at Kentucky, if you ignore him, his development is going to stagnate, and he's likely going to transfer or give you very little next year. Getting him a few minutes now and seeing if you can get him going a little bit is a good thing, especially since the rest of our offense is having some serious issues right now.

They should be, but they're not in his repertoire And stop talking about two shots. He's taken 75 threes this year and made 25%. He is a bad three point shooter right now. It's not a small sample. Its 75 attempts.
