Exactly. When we lost to Yale, they were the first ones to tweet about how we sucked. When we won three in a row in the AAC tourney, not a word was said.

You may be right about how the "reporters" will spin it. However, I don't believe that's what CMB meant by writing "...he wasn't their first choice." Clearly "their" is referring to OKC. Regardless though...it now leaves NO doubt about KO's intentions. It's great news for all UConn fans and any player presently connected with UConn or considering being a part of the program in the future!

Exactly! He already told everyone that he wasnt going anywhere, but you see even on this site people are still stressing out. So now he is telling everyone for a second time and telling both the media and OKC I am not interested in the OKC head coaching job. So basically they may be considering him, but he is removing himself from their consideration... He's not interested... Since last time his words were twisted to mean he is not pursing OKC but maybe he'd be ok with OKC pursuing him.
 
Gotta love Zagoria retweeting a tweet proclaiming him as the basketball insider who broke the story of the Thunder having interest in KO, and Zagoria believing he will be the next coach....only to have Rothstein tweet that KO has pulled himself out of consideration for the job minutes later.

Is a public tweet really a source? Talk about yesterday's news. JJ even had time to write a column on it.

It was obvious from his original statement he made yesterday at 9:00 AM. Three reporters tried to create something out of nothing. Either they had sources as they claim with bad intel or they fabricated the whole thing.

You can't convince people what they want to believe that they are wrong. And people can and do take advantage of this. KO is not the guilty party in this. Not by a long shot.

Yeah but Ollie should publicly say he's not interested in every job, open or not. For instance, how do we know he's not angling for the Celtics?

I was catching up on my twitter timeline, saw the Zags retweet and then the Rothstein tweet immediately afterwards, just embarrassing. I said yesterday he was going to wind up with egg on his face because he was going too hard, and that's exactly what happened.
 
As a Thunder fan this saddens me...

Absolute radio silence about this on Twitter. Zagoria, Goodman, Woj etc. have yet to ackowledge Rothstein's tweet.

To withdraw you have to be a candidate right? Or is Rothstein's story merely a way to smooth the narrative.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no denial, no matter how clearly of succinctly worded that would be picked to death on this board with a bunch of "what he shoulda said" posts.

oh and by the way, its "should have" not "should of."

ie "you should have counted to ten before making such an assanine post.
 
This is what I don't really get about this thread, and I suppose it's because I don't buy what I guess is now conventional wisdom on here, that the Ollie to OKC rumors were the coordinated efforts of a group of writers (or coaches, maybe, I can't keep track) to damage UConn's recruiting.

Sportswriters get these things wrong all the time. All. The. Time. It's part of the gig. When have you ever seen a reporter then write an article about how he was wrong about the rumor he was reporting or, even crazier, apologize to the subject of the rumor?
