Was watching ESPNU the other day and they were saying that UCONN is in contention to land 12 out of the top 14 (over the next couple years) in the country because they all want to play for Ollie. They said he is considered the pinnacle coach amongst AAU and HS coaches because of his experience and how affable he is.

Wow, was this Telep who said this?

I want to say yes but don't remember exactly. This was back on Sunday and brain was still foggy from Saturday night's activities.

I will take a few top players every year and great team chemistry. That would make us about as deep as we ever had been in the past. They better be ten toes in or they should go play for the squid.

I may be completely wrong but I feel like Ollie wouldn't take a talented player who despite being talented thought he was bigger than the team. After watching how he was able to motivate this past year's team I have no doubt that the rest of his players will be Ten Toes in

C'mon, do we look like we were born yesterday???

Freescooter told us not that long ago that these kids don't even know who Kevin Ollie even is.

I agree. A guy like Durant seems to be a guy who would thrive under Ollie - as a younger kid, I think he was humble and hard working. To me he's one of the easiest "stars" in the NBA to like.

I don't have any specific examples of great players who have bad attitudes, but it seems guys like Kobe, Dwayne, Carmelo, Dwight, and maybe even Lebron might not have worked out at UCONN under Ollie. (those guys are on some top 10 lists for NBA Prima Donnas).

Freescooter has been silent lately about Ollie. Can't admit he was wrong.

Was nowhere to be found in either Purvis or Hamilton thread, finally had to be asked about it in the merchandise thread. If KO signs another 5 star we are gonna have to break out the thermal imaging scope like in Predator to find him.

FANTASTIC statement about a second year head coach. While I consider UCONN to be a top 10 job I hate to think that another high profile school with deeper pockets may lure him away in a few years after success. Not saying that KO is not a loyalist but cash does talk............................

If he is very successful, it is not another college that will get him to leave, it will be the league.

I can't believe that could happen, but the way things are going for us with conference realignment, nothing bad is impossible.

Have to imagine UConn will match any offer from another school -- or at least come close enough to keep Ollie from leaving.

In this case, not spending $$ to keep Ollie is essentially peeing money away. You'll lose 2x what you're paying him in ticket and licensing revenue.

If he's successful, he's not going anywhere. Calhoun talks louder than cash.

KO turned down NBA contract money to become an assistant here so I don't think that will be an issue. HE BLEEDS BLUE. 10 TOES IN!!!!

I sincerely doubt KO is going anywhere anytime soon. He strikes me as very loyal so coaching at another school is out of the question and to infer so is blasphemy! As far as the NBA i think theyll wait and see what he does over the next few years but i think he`d only leave if it were a job where he had the possiblilty to win asap. something like mark jackson at golden state. i firmly believe ko will be an nba coach someday.
