While typing a reply to another thread, I had a brainstorm about Ollie as head coach. KO has made his college coaching rep as a recruiter. Just off the top of my head I can think of two recent hires that didn't pan out where a good recruiter didn't equate to a successful coach (SJU, Rutgers).

But what if KO gets the job and we bring in Howie Dickenman in the Blaney seat? They always got along, didn't they? Howie might be ready for a downshift. The "coaching tree" and JC's legacy would continue, neither are tainted by Miles-gate. Howie would be an especially great help on the program management side, an area where a recruiter wouldn't have as much experience. I think it could work if all sides were amenable.

You guys all suck. It's brilliance I'm telling you. Besides, we don't know for sure if JC is even coaching this year. He said so himself.

Nothing against Howie, but the staff is already loaded with former coaches. Beyond George, Miller and Hobbs ran programs. If KO is the guy, I'm sure he'll find a good bench coach. And why would Howie go backwards on the coaching ladder, anyway?

I was also brainstorming. why don't we let Calhoun coach this team for at least the next few years.

Who do you plan on playing on this team? Because recruits are just a bit smarter than you give them credit for, and when they make the most important decision they will have made in their life to date, they will want to know who their coach is.

+ 1/2

Agree, providing he officially announces his intentions well in advance, to prevent the 100+ threads on this board over the next few years.

I thought Coach announced his intentions when he signed his new extension.

If it's KO I think we eventually have Ray Ray on the staff also......I like the Dickeman idea as well as possibly Leiato.......but Kevin also knows lots of people I'm sure so who knows what he may do. Glen and Karl are also great and KFree is learning.....when JC hangs them up so will George I'm guessing.......that solid RH man is a must!!

Mau, I know I have seen Ray Ray mentioned as a future UConn assistant coach. I thought this was just us fans hoping he joins the staff. Just curious, is there anything behind Ray returning to UConn? I've never seen anything where he indicated he wanted to get into coaching. I know at one point (after He Got Game), he wanted to get into acting when his playing days were over.
