2026 Recruiting: Olivia Vukosa

How is she Naismith 2nd team and win the Gatorade player of the year? Her stats are obviously 1st team. As a matter of fact, the second team would beat the brakes off the 1st team.

After McDonald’s All-American game, Olivia Vukosa prepares for next chapter with UConn women’s basketball.

Having access to the network of former UConn superstars is still surreal for Vukosa, who grew up idolizing Breanna Stewart and attends the same high school as Hall of Famer Sue Bird and WNBA MVP Tina Charles.
“It’s definitely a blessing, and getting to just talk to them, they talk to you like you’re a normal person,” Vukosa said. “It’s like woah, I’m talking to Tina Charles and she’s talking about her dinner. I get to say I have their phone numbers, and I don’t bother them, but if I ever need anything I always know they’re there.”
Even in the midst of her chaotic schedule, Vukosa is keeping up with her No. 1 Huskies as they attempt to bring home back-to-back national championships this weekend. She watched the team’s Elite Eight win over Notre Dame in the McDonald’s All-American players’ lounge, where she exchanged plenty of friendly banter with Fighting Irish signees Jacy Abii and Jenica Lewis. She frequently texts back and forth with UConn sophomore Morgan Cheli, and she was on the phone with Cheli, sophomore Allie Ziebell and redshirt sophomore Jana El Alfy on Monday while they were relaxing poolside at their hotel in Phoenix.
“We always pick up where we left off, and that’s my favorite thing with all the girls,” Vukosa said. “I just miss them so much. I can’t wait to go back (to UConn). I can’t wait to stay there, wake up, go to practice with them, bother them, annoy them … May 31 can’t come any sooner.”
