Olivia Vukosa video - McD’s All Star game practice

The game was a typical all-star game in the sense that UCONN recruits do not usually (in my recollection) shine the way they eventually will as part of the Huskies.
Case in point tonight was Olivia, by my count, only getting 3 shots. She missed on a long bail-out 3 point attempt and, unfortunately, missed on a contested lay-up before finally hitting on a long, in-rhythm 3 pointer. She showed herself as a good and very willing passer and screener, who will have much more of an effect on the offensive end as part of the UCONN system. I'm pretty confident that her defensive presence and positioning will really come along quickly under the tutelage of Geno's staff as will her boxing out when going for rebounds. She seems to be made for UCONN with her unselfishness and court awareness.
On the other hand, among the talented players tonight, I'm left with the lingering question: how in the world will Saniya Hall coexist with Juju and Jazzy at USC with only one basketball which occasionally needs to be shared?...

As I was watching the game, I to was thinking how is the chemistry going to be next year at USC when Hall was playing, at times, 5 v 1 and not even looking to share the ball.
 
Every year I watch the McD AA game and I think the overall level of play could not possibly be worse, until the game the following year. But if you like airballs, head scratching turnovers and silly fouls, you will love the McD AA game.

She ran the floor hard every play and the guards refused to find her for some reason
 
I watched, not overly closely. I agree--if you like forced shots, air balls, bad decisions, and turnovers, you must have been thrilled. I counted about 15 airballs on layups, midrange, and 3-pointers.

A few thoughts on Olivia: She has a nice touch; she's not slow, but not fast--often the last player down the court; she had a nice block on Hall but got called for a foul on a bad call. Her 3-point form looks good. Made one from 25', left another short from the same distance.

Hall--very athletic, possibly low BB IQ, made a couple of 3s, leading scorer (I think), can't coexist with Juju--not enough balls, forced shots, shared the ball very little, clanked 2 FTs in a row. Announcers gushed about her.

Edwards--even more athletic, can dunk but maybe not shoot, bricked 2 FTs (second was nearly an airball), perfect fit for Tennessee--athletic, but low BB IQ.

Harpring--very skilled but didn't pass at all on the first 3 possessions, forced shots left and right, has a chronic bad shoulder--possible candidate for surgery and missing a year.

Lewis--willing to take a 3-pointer as soon as the enters the game, made at least one, but missed several.

Abii--very athletic and stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points, some boards, 4 steals, 3 blocks. She projects as a difference maker.

Robinson--forced shots, tried to play bully ball; announcers repeatedly said he was having a tough night.

It was a wild, out-of-control game. Often, UConn players try to play team ball and have limited stats. At least one exception was Maya, who was 2 levels better than anyone else in the game.

FYI, McDonald (Kentucky recruit) won the 3-point shooting contest.

The highlights are much cleaner than the overall game, Very few airballs shown.

I am watching a replay of the McDonald’s all American game. I have about 5 minutes left to watch.

So far it has been a pretty frustrating night for Vukosa. She runs the floor and no one even looks to pass. She was wide open and practically doing jumping jacks calling for the ball at one point lol.

That’s just the fate of a big in an exhibition game like this.

I finished watching the game. I thought Harpring should have won MVP. She hurt her shoulder in the first half. But came back in the second half and was really the player that broke open the game and allowed the east to take control.

I saw the exact same thing as you did. Olivia was open numerous times and was many times the first one down the court after a defensive rebound, waving and practically yelling "Hey , I'm wide open!!!"
 
Horrible game to watch...anybody with the ball in their hands tries to either go to the basket regardless how many players are in the way or shoot a contested shot from distance....no passing...traces of basketball iq hard to find...poor Olivia was trying to play team ball with no reciprocity from her egotistical teammates....there are some great athletes in this class but few basketball players...and yes, i do not understand how will Juju, Jazzy, S. Hall and Sarah O. play with 1 ball...
