Olivia Vukosa video - McD’s All Star game practice

Oliva is much better than most know. She is a very good outside shooter, a good ball handler, runs the floor well, can use either hand and I expect to see her playing a high low at UConn too. She can do everything. Now picture this in your mind, Sarah Blanca and the Big O along with Jana Morgan Gandy, and Yana Thats a lot of athletic height. UConn is gonna be a tuff out next season too.

Gandy and Yana have a lot of work to do on their games before before they see meaningful mins. I think Morgan will be back in the mix with KK, Ash, Allie K9 , Blanca and Jovana . Geno likes his small ball line up

.-.
She's going to be a beast. The future is bright.
I'm with you. Since last year before Olivia picked Uconn , I have been saying she is starter material and way better than pundits say she is. I watched many FIBA games she was in and she can do it ALL. Score at the basket, score from the 3 line, rebound and block. Olivia is a natural big basketball player. I can't wait to see Sarah, Blanca, Olivia,Morgan and Jovana on the floor together with Ashlynn, KK. Kayliegh,Jana and Allie on defense. A 10 player roster as good as can be. GO HUSKIES!!!!!

Interesting post/comment in an Olivia Vukosa thread.
Olivia’s elite versatility (she’s a (5) who can play the (4)) does solve a limitation &1 in mix-match with non-versatile (5)’s.
  • Even minutes is a Geno-CD priority, and this year with Serah and Jana, limited the extent to which small-ball (this year’s more lethal lineup with a Per 40 +/- of 49.63 vs 32.85 for traditional, here) was used in the regular season.
I expect next year’s distribution of lineup types (this year, it is currently 66% (16:44/25:20) traditional, 32.6% (8:16/25:20) small ball, <1% big lineup), with be a lot different, with perhaps fairly even effectiveness.
  • I would hope that our other non-versatile bigs (Jana, Ayanna (after her post-injury adjustment year), Gandy) have an offseason that will allow them to be earlier used more strategically next year.
&1 In the ND E8 game, Geno used small ball more for 24 minutes (Serah’s+Jana’s minutes were 16 minutes).

Love Olivia. She seems wonderfully advanced on the offensive end. How quickly she gets serious minutes at UConn will likely turn on how well she does on the defensive side of things. Like a lot of talented kids coming out of HS, playing with the defensive intensity the college game demands (and Geno in particular) is the last piece of the puzzle to fit in place.

You left out Ice.......doesn't she have another year of eligibility?

/I also left out Ayanna and Kelis. They will get their minutes as Geno sees fit. Ice hasn't played in well over a year by the time next year comes around, so I left her off for that reason. I Want ICE to do well as she is 6'3" and will be a part of the team. GO HUSKIES!!!!

And Gandy

On Sunday against ND Geno rolled out a “throwback” lineup with a center (Jana), 2 forwards (Sarah & Blanca) and 2 guards (Azzi & Ash). Next season he will have a bunch of talented guards along with the best forward combination in WBB.

Geno hasn’t really had a Big who could shoot the ball consistently since Stewie. But Olivia can really shoot the ball, along with her ability to pass and defend. Olivia will most certainly play and I continue to believe that she will eventually earn the starting spot at center next season.

Will that end the “era of small ball lineups?” Probably not for good. But the idea of rolling out a lineup with Sarah, Blanca & the Big O up front is really exciting to contemplate.

Very excited about Big O. Geno often went to small ball since our recent bigs offered little offense and while tall, did not block shots (excluding Serah), limiting their defensive performance. Olivia reminds me a bit of Stef Dolson with more offensive skills. Also appears that O has received more coaching in high school and comes to UConn with more basketball maturity than Stef in her frosh year.
Would love to see the practices where Oliva, Jana, and Yana (Gandy?) all bang underneath.

Watched a video of the McDonalds team practice yesterday and while I'm not a big fan of a big shooting from behind the arc I'll tell you one thg, tht girl can really shoot the 3 ball, I was very surprised at her accuracy...she's really really good. We're going to Love her!

The skills are there...question will be: how fast does Olivia gets used to the physicality of the college game. I have no doubt she'll be a key part of the rotation and probably will be in the starting 5 sometime during next season.

In addition to Olivia, I'm eager to see Greenway, Harpring, and Lewis. Maddy Greenway scored over 5,000 points and won 4 or 5 championships, not counting the 2 in soccer. Kate Harpring is the daughter of an NBA player and won at least one NPOY award. Jenica Raine Lewis was a huge UConn fan when she was younger. I think she's a great 3-point shooter.

I love and admire a big girl who take a pass at the
high post, turn around and shoot comfortably from there…or lumber to the basket
I always wished Kiah would have done that in college and beseeched her to (on this site).

Ice played 2 games at the beginning of the season. And in the national championship. Maybe you mean Morgan?
