Olivia Vukosa at Uconn today

Yeah they were gear, but I don't believe they allow anyone to wear official jersey's until you're on the team.
I'm not 100% sure but I would think that recruits take pictures with Connecticut gear on the same way they do pretty much every other official visit so that when they make their announcement, they can have a picture in Connecticut gear. I just don't think that UConn publishes them until a recruit commits.

Is UConn allowed to give them gear and related merch, or is that a violation of recruiting rules?

So SC gets the last visit? I don’t like that
Sometimes players are just the right fit for Geno and his system, and the Big "O" is one of those recruits...... If she chooses South Carolina over UConn, I'll be extremely disappointed.......if anything, I'd have thought Texas was UConn's major competition...

Nothing is a sure thing except for death & taxes but Vukosa has visited UConn repeatedly, and and seems to have a good relationship with both the coaching staff and many of the players.
I felt the same way about Aaliyah Boston, and we know how that turned out. Maybe we should hope that someone on the team or coaching staff knows how to cook Croatian food.

No, some of what they wear is "on loan" like the letter jacket some have had on. Other times stuff like Fisher's sweatshirt are clothes they already own and wore on the trip/visit. UConn can't give them anything.

I've wondered the same thing myself. I've also wondered whether parents and siblings are allowed to be given gear since they're often wearing some. I don't know the answer though.

I think this person was just talking about UConn. I've never seen a recruit take pictures in a full UConn uniform during a visit.
Yes. Meyers and I were talking about never seeing UConn recruits in an official uniform. All good.

If I were accompanying my kid to a campus visit — and what parent wouldn’t? — I’d just buy some souvenirs for both of us from the campus store. I don’t think I’d wait to be given some swag. Or even want any.

Every time I see those photos of Lara I think of a missed opportunity for her. But then I think she’ll be happy at Stanford and have a really good experience there. And it reminds me of how difficult it is for a kid from Australia to pick a school as far away as UConn. That’s asking a lot. But it also encourages me to think that we are in Olivia’s backyard. There may be reasons for her to go elsewhere, but there are plenty for her to choose Storrs. I wonder if Kayleigh’s experience might be instructive for her.
Next year...

There used to be a $25 limit on food/swag, don’t know if it was changed

Maybe its due to the recent lack of news but have been watching snippets of the Big O playing. No videos I would recommend but all indicate that she is a very smart player with significant confidence. With few true "5's" out there, a bigs success seems to come from those around her, in particular the point guard. UConn is one of the only teams that every year has one of the better point guards in the country, and most years has a true center. Big O can just look at many years of UConn's success and understand how she would easily fit the system.

Possibly. Makes sense they might/would do that.

Do you have evidence for this, or are you working backwards from the fact that players frequently are depicted in their new team's uniform as soon as their commitment is announced. There is a thing called Photoshop, which has been around for a long time. And something more called A.I.

The only "evidence" I have is the rapid release of a photo upon commitment, but if you reread my post, you will note that that was supposition on my part. In any event, the practice existed well before AI and don't look particularly Photoshopped.

You seem to be a little bit argumentative on this. I'm not sure why you feel so personally invested in it.

Here is a video that might interest you. It shows the bronze medal match at the U20 European Championships B, which took place two months ago. Olivia played a fantastic game.

I'm sorry for the edge in my post. I was having a bad day, but that is no excuse.

Canada, thanks for posting this. Olivia was almost 18 when this tournament was played - impressive!
