Oklahoma post game thread

Are we all being punished because of what AI said about us. We just won a game against a team that had much more talent than us. My take you have a team that goes 6-12 in conference play. They kind of forget how to win. Throw in a program that has shown they know how to win us, especially in March and April and you get what we had here tonight. Oklahoma was impacted by the name on our uniform. I don’t think they expected to win because losing as much as they had during the year just led to the type of mistakes we saw tonight.

Never mind in the time it took me to peck this post together I see we now have a Oklahoma post game thread for us night owls.
Other than Fears I didn't see alot of talent on that OU team.

Is there something wrong with McNeeley? Was the 38 point win at Creighton the last good game he had? That was over a month ago. He's been especially brutal from three. We need him to break out of this on Sunday in a big way.
Yeah and he has been awful the last couple of weeks. Just looks out of sorts.

Alex and Solo will rightfully get a ton of props for stepping up from a bad night to close out a win, and rightfully so. But Jaylin Stewart coming in and knocking down a 3 and playing good defense right after Solo picked up his 3rd foul was massive, that had the potential to go off the rails quick

Found a way to win - survive and advance. But definitely disappointed how undisciplined we were on the defensive end (no surprise there), and Liam continued his poor play. In his last 5 games, he's 17/65 (26%) from the field including 5/27 (18.5%) from three. He's shooting 38% from the field and 32% from three on the year, which isn't what I was expecting based on his reputation as 'the best HS shooter in the country.' It's been a month and a half since he donned his Superman cape at Omaha.

Solo's first three fouls were earned and horrendous. His 3rd foul 30 seconds into the second half was an abomination, and Hurley sat him for the next ten minutes which was probably a couple minutes too long based on how we struggled on offense. Our BBIQ is a lot lower than what it should be, and perhaps that's part of our coaching. Hassan is way too important to our offense to continue to pick up two fouls early in the first half (he's done this countless times -- he's playing like he's still the 6th man).

Hopefully the guys rise to Florida's level on Sunday.

I can definitely live with UConn fouling too much...

BUT I want the stupid fouls eliminated.
I'm not good with either.

That was one ugly win, but a win nonetheless playing their C game. Other than some horrible fouls and suspect calls, they played some really good D.

To beat the Gators, they'll need their A game and hope Florida doesn't play theirs.

Most NC teams have a scare along the way. Let's hope today's was ours. Just 5 more teams standing in the way to our 3-Peat. 1 down, 5 to go. :)

Liam was really bad, maybe the worst player on the floor for us tonight. Played like a freshmen. I'm starting to think another year is on the table and tbh might be the best thing for him.

THANK YOU HASSAN DIARRA. Idk where we would be without him this season. My personal MVP of this team.

I think it's the remnants of Alex's concussion affecting his game if we can believe the Boneyard doctors

Agreed. He got a cardio workout in the first half but was much more effective in the 2nd half.

I said it in the chat during the game but with the way Liam is hijacking things I would like to see Solo and Jaylin get a bit more opportunity to ball create. Solo can get into the lane for a midrange pull-up, I don't want Jaylin starting at the 3 point line but get him on the move or in the midpost area and he can get to 2 dribbles and get crafty near the basket. If Liam goes haywire again against UF that game will be done by the half.

Someone had to do it. Just a total rock fight. Just happy we got #13 to tie duke. F them.
It’s Dook we tied….they get zero respect on this board….them and that generational player and accomplished troller they have playing for them this year can kiss my you know what. Don’t like them never have never will.

I think he is still not 100% healthy. High ankle sprains sometimes take a long time to fully heal.

All gravy from here

McNeeley is probably the 6th best player on the team right now, which is fine because freshmen have these stretches, but he’s playing like he’s the only option. Time (really past time) to reel it and and defer to his teammates

Another thing is stopping the haters from saying ,oh well Hurley hasn't won a tournament game for UConn outside of the back to back championships, that's one thing to knock off his list he's 3-2 in 1st rd games for UConn instead of 2-3, the haters would surely bring that up had we lost and some of them exist on this board.

Yea, need to pull the green light from Liam and spread that around a bit. He needs to find his floater.

There were a few possessions where the offense completely stalled out and we played 1 vs 5.

Hoping we can put this game behind us quickly.

At one point he was 2-11 from the field and nobody else had more than 5 shots. Oklahoma couldn't stop Reed down low but he only had 5 shots. I'm hoping McNeeley breaks out in a big way on Sunday. He's due.

Way far off our usual game. I look for assists, and we had precious few tonight.

Still enough points on the board to win, and I'll settle for that although I might not sleep for another hour or so.

I think the team defers too much to Liam at times. Several times you could see them stand around and wait for him to try and make a play which resulted in a late clock bad shot. OU's defense wasn't suffocating so much as guys were just no executing.

I don't think it was a coincidence that when Hurley took out Liam after that dumbest foul and put jstew in things looked a little better.

We also forgot about Tarris basically the entire second half when he was in the game.

We know what we're up against Sunday who cares let's enjoy a tournament win let's live in the moment. You know social media and mainstream media was gonna be all giddy seeing Hurley lose tonight, and celebrate Fears.

I can handle losing to a better team but I'll be damned if we had let those smiling floopers beat us, we out toughed them.

We need our players to play with confidence. No hesitation.

What the team should learn from this is: as long as your defense is good you can miss shots and still win. As long as they are in rhythm, take the shot, especially under 10 seconds.

Stewart has a legitimate gripe. He’s shooting 16% better than Liam from the field but getting 75% fewer shots.
