Oklahoma post game thread

That was an ugly, ugly game and I don’t feel like a single player had an especially good game but…

  1. Solo Ball probably had his best defensive play of the season when we needed it most.
  2. Karaban with a huge 3 and block down the stretch
  3. Stewart with a few huge buckets in the 2nd half after looking abysmal in first
  4. Samson with a huge tip in bucket and the harm when we needed it most
Survive and advance!

Are we all being punished because of what AI said about us. We just won a game against a team that had much more talent than us. My take you have a team that goes 6-12 in conference play. They kind of forget how to win. Throw in a program that has shown they know how to win us, especially in March and April and you get what we had here tonight. Oklahoma was impacted by the name on our uniform. I don’t think they expected to win because losing as much as they had during the year just led to the type of mistakes we saw tonight.

Never mind in the time it took me to peck this post together I see we now have a Oklahoma post game thread for us night owls.

I’m looking forward to seeing the gators. Losing to the team that loses to the champs (Duke) isn’t so bad.

Glad for Karban and good solid effort. Ball was big in the second half. Big shout out to Tarris for carrying us in the first half. Diarra with some great D even if he is definitely hurting doing anything on offense. McNeeley is playing some of his worst basketball in the last couple weeks. I wonder what is going on. I loved how we played tough D and made them score everything close to the hoop. We chased them off the 3 point line all game and it worked. Now maybe I should get a ticket to go but noon start means I need to leave 5 am from Atlanta. Yikes. Also, $341 for a ticket in lower level is kind of high. Due ticket prices fall for these regional games? I normally just go to Final four and they do right up the start of the games. They fall drastically.

I have felt since the end of January when it became apparent we were going to be a 6 to 10 seed that we needed to survive the first game in the tournament. We did. We tied the record of 13 consecutive wins in the tournament.

All the pressure in the world is on Florida. I like playing an inexperienced coach on a really short turn around.

Let's hope they got the bad shooting, turnovers, foolish fouls, and boneheaded plays out of their system..LOL.....Seriously, it was ugly but they made plays in the end to win. Gotta play MUCH better Sunday and hope Florida helps you out by playing poorly..If so, you have a puncher's chance, but UConn will need the Solo Ball from Marquette, the McNeeley from Creighton, and the Karaban from the last 2 tournament runs to have a chance. They play like they did tonight, and the are going to get pummeled. Still, each game is its own entity, so need to hope they just come to play and hang in the game to put game pressure on Florida.

Liam needs to shoot less when not hitting.

Solo needed to get going earlier but the fouls and Liam shooting too much took him out of the game.

Should have fed Tarris a lot more they had no answer.

In the end Solo stepped up hit some big shots and had some key defensive plays.
Then AK brought it home, survive and advance that's what it's all about.

Solo Ball keeps getting better in some area every game. Now this summer he has to work on his right hand so he can finish when going to the hoop.

Whoever coached him before he came to UConn did not do the best job. On our high school team if you could not effectively finish with both hands near the rim your playing time was negatively impacted.

Clearly whatever he focuses on improving it seems he gets it accomplished. Hope that is a focus this off season.

I thought they were throwing the game halfway through the 2nd half.

Could Liam McNeeley be any less interested to be out there? Could Alex? (I know Alex stepped up late, but holy slow…)

I can definitely live with UConn fouling too much...

BUT I want the stupid fouls eliminated.
Liam frustration foul was so stupid... and the bigs consistently reaching in on the 3pt line frustrates me so much. Why does Hurley keep having them do that???

I said to the person next to me, “I wish somebody would step up.” The next few seconds Karaban committed an offensive foul, but then hit a huge three, a nice drive in the lane, and then a game changing block, followed by a rebound and a foul shot. He had a quiet night, but came up big down the stretch when we needed him. Squeak by and move on.
Yes Karaban came up big and Ball too down the stretch. There was a long lull in the middle of the second half where no one looked like they wanted the ball, and then Solo started hunting his shot. Had a few big defensive stops too.

Remember early on in the season when we happily celebrated Liam as a bonafide 1b to Flagg's 1a? I miss that guy.

I felt UConn was the better team, but not following the script and making dumb decisions with poor execution on offense. Defense was mostly fine. Which let Oklahoma hang around far too long.

Last 4 minutes were the championship DNA kicking in. Hass directed traffic, Alex made important plays on both ends, Solo played defense like he was possessed, and we threw in a dose of Reed Bear. Thankfully no hero ball.
