The 2 younger sisters are moving from Pepperdine back to near home at Rice.
I don't know how good they are, but given the character of the 2 older sisters, seems like they'd be a great addition to any program -- too bad Houston couldn't snag them.
Oh right academics. Rice >>>>> Houston.

Erika Ogwumike averages 18.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game in 26 games, all as a starter. Her sister Olivia averages 9.3 and 4.3 but played only 16 games this past season, 12 as a starter. I'm not sure why they didn't play all 31 Pepperdine games. Erika and Olivia were No. 1 and No. 2 in scoring for the Waves, respectively.

I will have to go look it up but one Ogwumike might have finished in top 20 in NCAA DI scoring one year.

My son's alma mater will have an improved team next year (or when the O sisters are eligible). ;)

Academically, Rice is a top 20 school. Pepperdine is a good school too, but generally considered below Rice. As we know, academics are important to the O parents.

I thought they might end up here out of HS! I had seen one of them in a Rice shirt years ago and thought that if not Stanford, why not stay an hour near home and get perhaps the next best in terms of academics that still offered D1 sports and full athletic scholarships (as opposed to Ivy schools). It was also unclear how much of an impact Olivia would have at that time, so Rice seemed like a safe bet for both to start. Somewhat surprising now considering they were #1 and #2 statistically at Pepperdine, so they seemed to have proven themselves in terms of hoops, so I figured they'd have more interest from schools with more established WCBB programs, especially Erica of course.

Finally some good news for C-USA, which between FIU and La Tech had been really getting pulled through the mud lately.
