This is such a gut punch, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. Even if DH remains at UConn, teams will attempt to hire him. It's the price of having the best coach in basketball. Better get used to it.
There aren't many teams who can offer what the Lakers can. If he comes back we are fine

So, we are ignoring back to back championships and complaining that are off-seasons are less than optimal?

OK then.

lol….like, we’re about to lose Danny Hurley.

Yep, probably, but none of that takes away what he achieved while he was here.

We will know for sure soon enough.

You’re missing the point.

We just wanted a nice offseason. The universe denies us that after every championship season - it insists on making us stress.

We were having a really, really, REALLY amazing offseason and now…

Torment. Cam waiver denied, Draft declarations, who’s staying, who are we getting, regular recruit commitments, Kentucky rumors, Is Alex coming back. And that’s right after the nets got cut. You can’t blame people for being annoyed when 2 different teams came after your coach and he’s currently visiting one of them. Kentucky was big news and now we literally have to wait out the weekend for the Lakers situation. It’s a bit too much.

Oh I understood the point, let me paraphrase it:

"It sure is hard to see the forest with all these damn trees in the way."

You can't have "an uncomfortable off-season after a championship" without... wait for it... winning a championship. If the karmic cost of that is a little bit of angst in the off-season, so be it.

Last offseason, we had the Big 12 kerfuffle where the Pac12 killed itself to keep us out of a power conference.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed last offseason. Basking in the glow of a championship, watching 3 stars go to the NBA, and reloading our roster was all very enjoyable. The latest supposed near-miss on a P5 conference wasn't going to ruin any of that for me. I'm sorry if it did for you.

I perused the Conference Realignment board for a while a few years back and then realized it was worse for your health than smoking 3 packs a day.

This isn’t doom and gloom, just reality.
the reality is doom and gloom

best case scenario IMO is we promote kimani to HC and keep Luke by making him the highest paid Associate HC in college bball. we keep tom moore as GM and somehow the 3 of them convince all our current players to stay.

we arent going to be going after the scott drews and billy donovans of the world and the closest thing we have to a mark pope is steve pikiell

This is good, I like it. Danny doesn’t win thise titles without Luke, Kimani and Tom. No way.
Hes the face but they recruit and teach that offense. Just pay them and nail them down.

after hearing luke say he's following danny to LA unless he's promoted to HC we have to swap him and kimani. hopefully kimani would settle for being the top paid associate HC. as hurley has said, being the HC at a midmajor isnt appealing anymore with nil and the portal.

Kimani will stay just to wait and replace Neptune at Villanova.

Pros and cons always, and if Hurley were to leave it's a big con, definitely. Let's let it all play out before we panic.

But I'm with @Fishy. It would have been nice to sail into next year thinking/hoping 3-peat with:

a) the current roster including Karaban
b) 5-stars eyeing our program as a choice landing spot (if for 1 year)
c) high-4-stars salivating over a UConn offer
d) an intact coaching staff that guided two very different squads to domination in the tournament back for another run

without having to sweat this. Who knows what dominoes fall in terms of the head coach and roster if Hurley leaves.

IF DH does leave and the coaching situation is not optimal, the movement of players is going to eat this board alive
I might take the summer off....................

He responded to a post about the offseason by citing our past in-season success and you have the NERVE to say he missed the point?

lol apparently so did you. Tough to read during these stressful times, I guess.

But I was just poking fun at him, not you. Whatever pounding sand will do for me, I’ll get on that!

Do you think it’s possible for us to have a normal and peaceful offseason after a good year?

It’s like the universe sees us relax and thinks, nope, this will not do.

I've got a peaceful easy feeling
and I know you won't let me down
cause Dan Hurley is not
L. A. bound.
