I will take a HUGEEEEE pass on the tony franklin system. it will not work here, at at the average high school? sure, but in college I don't think so.

Pro Football Hall of Famer John Hannah says of the system "If both teams have players who are equal in talent, this offense is impossible to stop"

2016 UConn Total Offense - #122 out of 128
2016 Middle Tennessee Total Offense - #8 out of 128.

2016 UConn Passing Offense - #92 out of 128
2016 Middle Tennessee Passing Offense - #8 out of 128.

When Franklin was @ Cal:

2015 Cal Total Offense - #8 out of 128
2015 Cal Passing Offense - #3 out of 128

2014 Cal Total Offense - #13 out of 128.
2014 Cal Passing Offense - #6 out of 128

I'll grant you that we don't have a Jared Goff on the roster but...

Most CT teams use aspects of the TFS in their offensives but because it is so popular there are also many different ways to defeat it. thats why you cannot rely on it.

The only way you beat it is to play really really good man coverage and to have great DTs that can clog up the running game. If you don't have both then you're screwed

respectfully disagree, unless you run into a + high school QB you commit to stopping the run which is bread and butter for most schools and force them into the pass. as long as you do your homework and have good formation recognition you can take your chances against an average high school qb and be successful.

John Hannah has been out of coaching football for over a decade...

You said you didn't think the system would work in college. The system has worked @ LaTech, Cal and MTSU. It has to be better than what we have. LaTech lead the nation in 2012. I'd take my chances just w/ better use of current personnel.

agree to disagree, with my understanding of his offense and how its implemented i just don't believe it would be a good fit here. trust me i would love to be proven wrong.

The best part about his system is you don't need a world-beater QB. You can run it successfully at any level because the reads are so easy. Considering our QB woes it's a good fit here.

Guess Christmas comes either tomorrow or some time next week on the OC

"This job posting is scheduled to be removed at 11:59 PM eastern on December 26, 2016." - guessing NOT tomorrow but...

You have to recruit to system whatever that might be. Initially yes it would be a bumpy transition, but as you turned over the roster it could work. Right now Uconn employs one of the most ineffective mish mash of styles on offense that I have seen in a long time. They have nothing to hang their hat on, and worse yet they do a poor job of putting the play makers that they have on the roster into positions to be successful. I have no idea if Franklin would be the answer, but literally anything at this point would be better than what is currently in place.

Actually I'd guess they'd complete the hire ASAP to get the coach on the recruiting trail. Even if the presser to introduce the new OC doesn't happen, word should start to leak out as things become official.

We will never know how UCONN hires . They use a professional recruiting firm and a committee from the UCONN community

Educators, coaches, donors ...

That's how PP BD and the AD were selected

Larry and Susan make the ultimate decision

Maybe its time Larry takes a step back and does a self assessment given his stellar
involvement with PP and BD selections. Was he behind the starting and recruitment of Tim Boyle?? (just asking).

Perhaps a thought, the time has come, perhaps, there might be a more qualified individual can serve on the BOT that can build the endowment, including better connections to the NYC and Fairfield County
donors.

Time to join the 21st Century, and good or bad, acknowledge where most of CT's biggest movers and shakers live if not live and work.

A few things I think are pretty safe to assume:

1 - the candidate (he's already been selected, this is just a necessary formality) was selected by DB. Diaco just went along as he had no choice.

2 - we will know who it is by end of business 12/28 if not a day or two sooner.

3 - shy of him resigning, we will have BD as head football coach for at a minimum of ten more months.

4 - there is a very good chance that BD has been instructed to give the new guy full control of the offense. BD's longevity here will depend on how willing he is to comply.

Good call on #1, FCF... it seems that Kill was that candidate.
