I as well. They had a pretty impressive year with a high scoring offense.

2016 Old Dominion Monarchs Football Schedule
His offense is unforgettable...I remember the guy they had a few years back at QB ... last name was same as a beer I drink from time to time... Heineken... but I believe his actual last name was Heineke (sp?).... dude threw for a ton of yards... this was around the time ODU was transitioning from FCS to FBS I believe....

If I was still in Hampton Roads area I'd watch some ODU football. Nice stadium and a fun program to watch.

I still hear so-called experts talking about having to run the ball in the Northeast cuz it gets cold for 2 games. I just watched a bowl game and 0 degrees the other night where they ran and passed and scored a ton of points! The lazy group-think persists.
You betcha.

I like Tyson Helton's resume too. Was the OC at Western Michigan and is now QB/Pass Game Coordinator at USC (his brother's the head coach there).

"He spent the previous 2 years (2014-15) as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky the past 2 years (2014-15). WKU broke more than two dozen school offensive records under Helton, including the points scored record in each of his 2 years. The Hilltopper offense was in the national Top 10 in 2015 in passing efficiency (first at 177.4), scoring (third at 44.3), passing (fourth at 372.2), first downs (eighth at 349) and total yards (ninth at 526.4). Not so sure leaving SoCal for Storrs would have much of an appeal.

I so wanted to post a pic of the USC cheerleaders here but I'm at work.

All these super qualified candidates- we are sure to land someone great!
Honestly everyone nailed verducci for no experience but i would rather have a young up and coming wr coach or than an old retread. Dont see what having ten years experience of run up the middle is going to do?

10 years of playing Madden at a .800 winning percentage should have been a criteria. Demonstrated clock management skills during Madden 2 mins drills also a must.

Do we really want to exclude Andy Reid right off the bat?

Was holding out for hope that today or tomorrow they would announce the new OC(kinda like a X-mas present for the fans and plenty of time over the weekend to mull the decision over) but probably not gonna happen :(

I find it interesting that there are no "whispers" out there about potential candidates. Either we have dropped so low on the food chain and no one cares to make a call to a "source" or the people doing the hiring are good at keeping secrets.

I mean we can't even get a blurb on the Coach Carousel thread? Come on spring training.

we typically get o whispers until the absolute last moment... like t a few days before it's announced... which normally happens around signing day.... which, if that's again the case, will suck royally.

Tony Franklin's passing scheme is one of my favorites. Supposedly he's tough to work with, though. At least according to Cal fans.

A lot of the best teams in CT use his system or have used it in the past

Yup - Franklin has checkered history from the late 90's/early 2000's but he can teach the spread/air raid concept which obviously no one on the current staff was able to do. He did a pretty good job developing Goff. He's just a name that came to mind that had the match on preferred qualifications. Might be too risk adverse for BD.

I hope Diaco is as desperate to find a top notch OC as fans are to see him fired. If that happens we might do alright going forward.

Interesting. All the pieces seem to fit assuming he interviews well. Middle Tennessee State to UConn would be the right sized jump. A lot may depend on who he can get as OL coach.

Sure, but how's fellow Murray State Racers' gridiron alum, Bob Burton, feel? I jest ... I think. ;)

You get a Gold Husky for picking up on the Murray State Grad comment...
