So I'm watching Chicago vs. Tulsa. Close game in the 4th quarter. Courtney Paris rolls to the basket off a screen and gets a perfect pass from Simms right under the basket. Instead of going right up with the ball with a wide open look, she puts the ball on the floor giving the defenders time to come over and challenge.
She made the basket, but 5 years in the league and she still can't make a fast layup by receiving the ball and going right up to the basket with it? Now I'm not saying she is incapable of making a faster play, but how many times did we see Stef as a junior or senior take a great pass, keep the ball high in her grip, and roll to the hoop making the shot without putting the ball on the floor?
I've not watched enough WNBA games to have a general opinion that all post players possess that particular skill set, but are these kids just not taught that in college? Or was Courtney's play just an outlier for how post players in the WNBA generally play when close to the basket?
