we have a conference realignment board to keep the craziness there. we don't need that madness on this board.

A good read from the NY Times about ESPN's role as the main power broker in college football; and, as such, the driving force in realignment.

No specific UConn mentions, but worthwhile info on what would be expected from the football program if the university wishes to play with the "big boys".

“what’s emerging is a select set of 50 to 60 schools” and everyone else.
The winners “will all have stadiums that seat more than 50,000. They’ll all have TV contracts that bring in $20 million to $30 million a year. And because they have all that money, they will be good in all sports.”
Meanwhile, he added, “The rest of the institutions will be struggling because they don’t have the same set of opportunities.”

Why not? Most of us, at least me, don't routinely read the Conf Realignment Board, mainly because there rarely is any news that's either recent, or good, from our perspective. I could see if the threads keep popping up, then maybe time to move them, but I appreciate the occasional update on this board...
