I read on Social Media Nykesha is an assistant coach at UCF. Congrats to her!
Welcome to the ever growing Auriemma coaching tree!

It's beginning to look like the sun never sets on UConn women alumni..
I truly apologize for being pedantic, but this is a perfect spot to be accurate about gender: alumnae.

Nothing on the UCF website, Facebook, or Twitter, either UCF's or Nykesha's.

Meant to tell you - you know she got cancelled right? Not planning on going out the same way, are you? ! ;)

UCF can use all the help they can get.

Good for Nykesha.

Very true, though UCF's decision to hire Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is a good start. She's a good coach.

FWIW, the other 2 assistants came with the HC from Albany.

A good place to give coaching a try - a successful HC, a school that has (from anything I have ever read) wanted athletic success in all sports, and near your home. Only place to go is up.

It's beginning to look like the sun never sets on UConn women alumni. In the next 5 to 10 years, UConn alumni will be coaching college basketball based upon the UConn experience.
Hmmm . . . interesting verbal/visual connection. One might say sublime.

I'm looking forward to see her in Storrs come this season...congrats!
I love to follow recruiting and Nykesha was the start of that. We had a very good team in 1993-1994...lost in the final 8 to eventual champ North Carolina. They 'out-athleticed' us all over the court...led by frosh speedster Marion Jones....THE Marion Jones. We would have needed our A game to beat them and only played our B.

Nykesha was THE difference next year....with our first ring and 35-0. I had heard about her and went to see Bloomfield play a couple of times. They were mediocre at best...and would have been dreadful with Nykesha. Just watching her for 30 seconds and you knew she was elite. She closed the athleticism gap in 94-95....and the rest is history.

Hmmm...wonder if Jeff Jacobs of the Courant might seek her out on Central Florida's visit to chat about that famous/infamous basket of hers and his subsequent column....'Soupy Sales'?
