November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Just curious… did you struggle with the guy who is 5th among UConn’s all-time assist leaders? He was 21.5+ years old when he played his first game in Storrs, and it’s likely he’d be our career assist leader if he was here for four years, like the four guys ahead of him.
I didn’t struggle personally as I wasn’t born when Sheffer began his UConn career, though I’m sure my parents watched plenty of games with me in their arms during the 95-96 season.

Obviously I support a Husky legend and can’t really contest anything done according to the rules. It’s the rules themselves I have issues with. If they allow 21-22yos to come play college ball, then you’d be a bad coach not to do your due diligence and take opportunities when they’re there.

But that doesn’t mean the opportunities should be there to begin with.

Gotta see it first. Michigan is putting the evidence out there with this tournament.
Went toe to toe with the # 3 team down 2 starters one being our best player. I’ve seen enough. But then again I’m a homer

For now. Until we get healthy.
Very tough matchup against that front line. As strong as Tarris is, going up against a car lot float of a 7'3" big wouldn't be easy. Any three we throw out there would get eaten alive by Yaxel. Their 2G is bigger than Solo. Morez could just bully AK, more athletic and bigger. Our only advantage might be at PG, at least physically.

They are making a Zags front line that has been dominating, look pedestrian.

We would not match up well at all against UM. I'm big on matchups, where we outmatched everyone in 2024 and I don't see many gaps in UM. Their games against Purdue this year are going to be must watch.

I had the same concern this week in 2021 when we went up against #2 Auburn but sanogo and whaley outplayed Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith. And they were both better than anyone on UM.

Kansas beating Tennessee without Tennessee tells me that what I posted earlier was accurate, the rest of the team without Peterson is better than some people think. Tiller in particular is very good.

This Michigan beat down of Gonzaga is shocking. This is really impressive. I didn’t realize that Michigan was this good. Stunning level of dominance over a ranked team that looked really good all week. Up 43!

I disagree. Size doesn’t mean better. Idc how big he is, Taris is better. Alex is better than Morez Johnson. And Gonzaga doesn’t have a Taris either. AZ had the same size advantage against us without Reed. And we should have won

Itd be a good game. I think we win at full health.

Fun facts from Torvik about the Cincinnati loss to Eastern Michigan.

-It dropped their ranking from 40th to 62nd
-Torvik assigns a game score for each result, and this one got a value of 4 out of 100. He explains how it's calculated here, but all you need to know is that it means that it was a performance so bad that even Mississippi Valley St would be projected to do better, and they are the current lowest ranked team.
-It lowered their expected margin of victory for their next game against Tarleton St. from 20.1 to 17.6
