Don't forget the classic
A couple years ago I sat next to Dana Barros at the Garden and we were talking BC and UConn basketball. He said that BC's president and administration don't put an emphasis on winning and that's why their athletic department is not doing well. But then you have hockey and women's lacrosse so why do they have strong programs? Why would you not want your revenue sports to succeed? They also made a hefty investment to hire Bill O'Brien so I'm not sure what is true. It's definitely true that their fan base isn't that strong or dedicated to BC. That's usually where everything starts.Do you really think it's the coaching?
O'Brien did an excellent job with PSU football in his few years there, and he was a pretty good HC with the Houston Texans.
It's something else. The school is not going to spend with the other schools. They're going to take in revenue instead.
Perhaps CCSU should replace DePaul in the Big East.
Well, as you know, there’s levels to thisCan you imagine how good CCSU could be with just an extra million a year. We could be in America East and compete with Vermont, Yale, etc.as true National mid-major if we could only get some real financial support.
I love UConn fans complaining they don't get ACC money, while Central can't afford recruiting trips or a more than 2 media person across the whole department.
UConn basketball program support is larger than our entire athletic department. We appreciate the love from UConn supporters, but we could use some $$$$ too! 😁
I guess if the goal is more money and, for everyone not on this board, that is the goal. From a quality of program and on-field/court success, it has not been. BC is offering virtually free tickets and no one shows up. Good for their team getting more revenue from the ACC to get beat by CCSU in front of 2000 people. All of them. They made tens of millions of dollars more per year in media distributions. The fact that many of them squandered that advantage doesn't mean that they didn't benefit from it.
Make no mistake about it, our being blackballed from the ACC was intended to financially cripple our athletic department and make us irrelevant. It didn't work out that way because of a commitment by the athletic department, the school, and the state to continue to compete at the highest level levels. I don't think that changes one bit if we had joined the ACC with Syracuse as originally planned. In all likelihood, our football program is a little bit further along, and I doubt our basketball programs would have been in any way hurt.
People love to make this argument, Deep, and I think it's a fallacy. Boston College isn't bad because it's in the ACC, it's bad because it's Boston College. We had a 20 some odd game winning streak against them when they were in the big east. They weren't bad because they were in the big east, they were bad because they're Boston College.I guess if the goal is more money and, for everyone not on this board, that is the goal. From a quality of program and on-field/court success, it has not been. BC is offering virtually free tickets and no one shows up. Good for their team getting more revenue from the ACC to get beat by CCSU in front of 2000 people.

BC is good in hockey because it doesn't take much effort to spend like other schools in Hockey East, they have great tradition, have had good coaches, and they have a natural recruiting base.A couple years ago I sat next to Dana Barros at the Garden and we were talking BC and UConn basketball. Can the ACC trade BC for UConn? Would be one of the greatest days of my life.I would trade BC for DePaul. It would reduce UConn's travel expenses and be an additional cupcake home game for our fans.
Problem is, who can the ACC throw in to make the numbers work? Can the ACC trade BC for UConn? Would be one of the greatest days of my life.
The Canadian team?Problem is, who can the ACC throw in to make the numbers work?
Who would take them? Can the ACC trade BC for UConn? Would be one of the greatest days of my life.
But not Seton Hall. They have enough problems as it is.A CCSU victory over Rutty after beating bcu would be monumental.
