@UCann I'm looking at boxscores this AM... help me out

  • #1 Purdue barely made it over the 30-pt win, 80+ pts scored "panic" marks vs. Evansville. Is this enough for Boilermaker fans to step back from the ledge?
  • #9 Kentucky beat Nicholls 77-51. Should KY fans be jumping from Rupp's Rafters?
  • #10 Tx Tech beat Lindenwood 98-60. Are they a lock for the Final Four?

In other scores to srcutinize:

  • KP#46 Oregon over Hawaii 60-59. Time for a Duck Hunt?
  • KP#168 Rice pummeled the D2 College of Biblical Studies 109-38. Good Lord!
  • KP#75 Arizona state over Southern Utah 81-64. One pt over the magic 80 mark, but only a 17pt win. Bobby Hurley on the hotseat early?
(Just a little good-natured BY teasing)
The other Hurley brother really is a bad coach. I wonder what his major issue is - brought in Sanon & Quantenance last year, nada. Lost Neal to Creighton. He just can't coach.

That Chandler dunk last night was impressive for a 6'5" guard.

Watching the athleticism of some of these freshmen makes me really envious. We looked slow and soft all last year. Not sure we’ve really upped our game in that area at all.

.-.

Earlier this year I said Peterson might be just as good as Cooper Flagg was for Duke and @alexd called me out for that. It's too early to take a victory lap but he may have to apologize at the end of the season. 😀

The phrase "generational talent" has been overused but yea he's a bit late to the party on Peterson, scouts have been saying he's a better guard prospect than Anthony Edwards and Cade Cunningham for over a year.

Here's BR's latest mock after "first glimpses". DP 1. Mullins actually 10 here. The top 19 are basically frosh and Bennett Stirtz and Quantenance. At 20 you start seeing some of the multi year college players like Philon and Telaford. AK then at 49. One of either Solo or Demary would have to blow up to get onto draft tables for next year. They'll be back.

One applied instructions from a HOF coach better. The other observed and learned what that HOF coach did in getting to players to play at a high level better.

Guy played for K and his dad - almost seems hard to be as bad as he is. Even his spawn is coaching at a high level (Oates).

Similar concerns. Top of frosh class are dudes. I'm expecting them to rain in March, as a lot of them are with top programs this year. We're still trotting AK out there, who looks like a YMCA level athlete. The plus guys we'll have are Demary, Mullins & Reed, so do have to be patient. Anything returning other than Tarris, we kinda know what they are.

No. 8 BYU's defense was an absolute sieve without Keba Keita, as initially feared. BYU's defense had an 86 defensive rating with Keita on the floor in 37 possessions. It had a 113 defensive rating when he sat for 30 possessions.

So try to get Keita in foul trouble?

Purdue and Oakland were tied at 35 at the half. Purdue now up 62-59 with 8 minutes left. Fwiw Michigan beat Oakland by 43.

So does this mean we can count Purdue out as a national title contender? /s

Not sure if I’ve ever seen the Yard have as much fun as this with a single topic

They were without TKR but highlights a possible rebounding issue if he isn’t in the game.

Purdue blog is beside themselves over defense/rebounding issues.
Alabama on the road next week will be a big test

The betting man in me feels they have little chance at winning a NC with all the young talent out there.

Find something you love as much as this dude loves insulting UConn basketball players
Wondering if we might be able to arrange for a Post Season get together of AK and the esteemed Hoops pundit Mr Ruff?

By the way UNC doing a number on Jayhawks
Carolina is going to cause problems for people with that 6’10”, 7’, 6’10” front court. That’s when they took the lead and pulled away. Wilson’s skill level lets them get away with it. The big Estonian center that transferred from Arizona can shoot a bit outside, so if your center leaves the paint the oversized forwards feast inside.

Boy Bill Self looked flummoxed at the end of the game. Is he in any danger of a warming seat? Expectations and resources committed are very high in Lawrence!
