Giving an easy transition layup with 10 seconds left to tie the game up?

Thank God for shabazz is all I can say.

It was waaaay too easy, but Shabazz did his job if you look at the replay and didn't play help defense and guarded the three point line. I never condone this easy of a layup in crunch time but id rather give that up instead of an open three to win. Ultimately it worked out and if you look at the replay again, I think we would agree Shabazz made the right choice, albeit hindsight is 20/20.

Have to admit it was painful, players need to know what's happening and the moment - Jeremy had noone to guard and should have helped and Roscoe too - everyone needs to understand Johnson put his head down and he's going, could see it from almost halfcourt, time to help Boat in that case and leave your man. Hard to get on JL and RS as they were great and noone wants to foul but please, next time leave your guy the season is on the line!

Just got to focus on the positives, the 'basketball' immaturity is like watching your kid play little league baseball. Compliment the good, ignore/dismiss the bad. Its helped me throughout this season. They are so young yet experienced, go figure.

I hear ya and respect you are able to do that. Myself, I just came back from my kids HS game in which he played well but heard about the times he didn't help on D, gave baseline up and got lazy running back from the press at midcourt.........sucks to be him.......NO he was great and heard about it but wants to know where he can improve (coaches suck and teach little hence the 4-15 record)...........

Anyway they need to be getting better at the detail stuff if they are to be anything as the Husky season ends, to see noone willing to understand with 5 seconds left it's okay to leave your guy and help out a comrade (Boat) in distresss is a bit scary........speaks to understanding the game and little things that help win!!!

But the win was great, really really was and the good news is I only saw the last 7 minutes of regulation and OT so it was a nailbiter and fun to be in that moment again as a fan. Whether you like it or not in order to win, many of the negative things that happened during that stretch I watched are things that stand out. Missed FT's, rebounds and such haunt you when you are looking at OT rather than going home already.

Now I'll leave it with this....BAZZ from 30....bang

I watched the replay on the basket a couple times and Jeremy was essentially playing a free safety position on that play and didn't help at all. If that desperation heave doesn't drop and they lose that one that becomes a laughable defensive lapse.

Had to figure they didn't want to foul and cause a three point play. Would figure they would have contested a 3 pointer much harder.

Looked to me like AD and AO simply didn't bust their humps to get back and be a presence discouraging the drive right to the hole. You don't want to foul, and you don't want to leave your man on the perimeter for an open 3, but that was an instance where more intensity and hustle would have changed the play.

It's going to look like AD and AO don't bust their humps to get back when a really quick guard is pushing it hellbent up the court. Doesn't mean it's accurate, but it will certainly appear that way on TV.

Boatright guarded him really well. It was a great play.

I thought that was a coaching error more than anything. No reason for the bigs to be on the foul line for Lamb's free throw, they should have been back on the defensive end while Jeremy was shooting.

Boatright did his job. If Drummond or Lamb are back that shot is blocked.

I hear you, but in a two point game I think it would be very unusual to concede the rebound.

I'm Fairly certain that Drummond was on the bench....

Sorry, meant to say AO. Drummond was at the table but did not get in. It was mainly Lamb who didn't help, but AO was slow getting back as well.

Also not to be that guy BUT: we barely beat a crappy nova team who was missing two starters including their best slash only good player. A win is a win and I'll take it but lamb dropped 32 also and we still barely won. Again I'm pumped we pulled it out and we finally showed some heart to come back from a big deficit but we shouldn't struggle that much to a team like nova if we want to make any sort of a run here

If you want to feel better, UConn outscored them by 18 in the last 28 minutes of regulation.

I feel great. Im not knocking us. It was a much needed victory and we showed heart and effort that has been non existent all year. Next step is not falling into a 16 point hole if we want to make a run here

Boatright has better defensive capability, he tried to block it, not horrible on his part.

It didn't help that they had been getting away with push offs the whole game

Agree it's a damn if you do and damn if you don't. The best case scenario happened, the other option is more overtime.

You could also say that this Nova team is the same one that only lost to Marquette TWICE by 4 points and to ND by 4 points - two ranked teams. And while Marquette played them when they had Wayans, one of those close wins was at MU.

Good point. This was a Big East game on the road. UConn's the defending National Champs. As fans, we should expect every game to be a challenge. Heck, I expected the Depaul game to be much closer. When our dogs fell down 18 last night, I thought the wheels had come off the wagon. Our NCAA hopes dashed. What a comeback! Nice to see the guys battle back. The season' s still alive and all is well for now.
