Lets see here....... schools are about 25 miles apart....... fanbases hate each other......... most of the players from both teams are from the state of North Carolina so they know what the rivalry means...... State is undefeated and a top 10 team......... looking for a high NCAA seed.... the other school is on the bubble........ so you know what that means ???

NC State begins its gauntlet of top-rated RPI teams today (7 of its final 8 opponents have RPIs of 29 or higher) against arch-rival UNC. I do have concerns; UNC has some great outside shooters who have been trouble for us the last couple of years. The Wolfpack Women will need another solid defensive performance and be more efficient on offense.

Final 8 games of the regular season: UNC, FSU, Syr, ND, WF, UNC, Lou, Mia

I can see them finishing this 8-game gauntlet anywhere between 6-2 and 2-6. I will guess 4-4.

I am pretty sure that as long as you can get ESPN3, you can also get ACC Network Extra.

What if unc wins..... nothing?
 
I heard earlier this week.... that this game is sold out.... or was expecting to be sold out. They did a lil preview of this game on the statewide cable news network last night. Thats rare.

Weird to see NC State by itself atop the ACC standings ahead of both Notre Dame and Louisville.
 
3:45 left 1st quarter...NC State holding a 12-11 lead. Two THREEs so far for NC State.
 
End of 1st quarter...NC State leading 17-15. Kiara Leslie already with 10 points for NC State.
 
4:21 left 2nd quarter...UNC leading NC State, 22-21 and going to the line for two shots when play resumes.
 
UNC is giving State all they can handle so far. It's a pretty good game, not much is coming easy.

Great crowd too. There's one good ol' boy who must be sitting close to the announcers' mics because we can hear him *constantly* ripping into the refs about all their "horrible" calls ha.
 
Halftime: NC State leading UNC, 32-31. Wolfpack Women finished the quarter on a 7-3 run after UNC had a 28-25 lead.

Danger zone for State. They've gone cold and UNC has built a 9-point lead late in 3Q.
 
NC State in a 4 minute scoring drought...UNC up 50-40.
 
State went scoreless the last 5 minutes of 3Q, giving UNC a 50-40 lead with 10 minutes to play.

I suspect this is the largest deficit State has faced all season?
 
You know State isnt going undefeated in the ACC..... but if their first loss of the season is to a cross-metro rival :eek:

Final: UNC hands NC State its first loss of the season, 64-51. NC State falls to 21-1, 8-1 ACC. UNC improves to 14-9, 5-4 ACC.

Also ended NC State's 21-game home winning streak.
 
So...how good is UNC? Beaten Notre Dame and previously undefeated NC State recently, will be a 4 game winning streak for them (beat VPI in honor of Triad and Georgia Tech as well)
