Non-UConn recruiting thread - 2025

Brihanna Crittendon has visited Oregon, I think this past weekend.
Missy Odom is announcing this Friday 10/24
Amari Byles is announcing this Saturday 10/25, I believe is down to ND, Oregon, and Baylor
Lola Lampley is announcing next Friday 10/31 [spooky], TN, FSU, and Ole Miss were visits.

Cydnee Bryant just visited Houston [I believe dual sport athlete with Volleyball?]
Chamiah Francis has also visit FSU [maybe since you compiled this list]
Those are the correct finalists for Ms. Byles.

You may not know this, but has Coach Ivey just revamped her recruiting apporaching and put more into high school recruiting this year? [bear with me on this phrasing...] She's potentially getting half the number of all her high school recruits since she became head coach in this one class. Potentially 4 in this class, in play for Bjorn [so maybe 5] too, and 8 since she got there with Miles, Citron, Bransford, Hidalgo, Prosper, Risch, Koval, and Macy.

Should add to @Vowelguy while Missy Odom did list her final as what you have listed, she did also visit Texas A&M AFTER that post was made. Was originally scheduled to visit in September, but it got moved to October 5th weekend. So, truly anyone's guess if she has a final 6 or a final five. But we will find out the final one soon.

Oops, sorry. Was moving too quickly. Magy Cannon is correct. I got Gabby Minus' Tennessee visit confused with Lola's. Gabby visited Tennessee, Baylor, and Florida.

In regards to your question above, do you mean that Ivey has individually put more into the process or that the overall effort has been amped up?

From an overall approach to recruiting, I've thought Ivey and her staff have always put in the work at the early stages of the process, in terms of going to AAU events, visiting prospects' schools and home, etc. (Can't vouch for the phone calls and social media, 😉 )
All of that is what I call the "wide and middle parts of the recruiting funnel." Ivey and her staff -- most notably Recruiting Coordinator Michaela Mabrey -- were coming up short since the stellar class of Hannah Hidalgo, Cass Prosper and Emma Risch.
They were getting to the finalist or group of five or six, then coming up short. Who knows what was going on -- could've been factors ranging from NIL funding to the "sealing the deal" approach to, well, a 18-year-old kid deciding for who or what knows??

However, I've read/heard/intuited the following:
  • Pat Garrity, a former ND and NBA player who worked for the Detroit Pistons, was brought in as a GM for both women's and men's basketball. I've got to think he, ND athletic director Kurt Bevacqua and others within ND's sports administrative department are working on NIL funding.
  • Speaking of Garrity, he himself was a mere "three star" recruit and worked his way up to becoming the player that went into the NBA. As such, he's a proponent of recruiting prospects who might take a few years to develop athletically, but buy into Notre Dame as an institution. The recruiting of Isabella Sangha, who was rated in the 80's by Hoopgurlz, might be an example of this approach.
  • Per the "sealing the deal on certain recruits," Coach Ivey was notably the lead on Jacy Abii -- who noted how much she got along with the HC -- the entire team flew to the last house visit for Byles.

Ivey -- and ND -- needed this class to be productive, considering 2024 (Kate Koval) and 2025 (Leah Macy) produced only one signing. So, they're up to three -- Sangh, Abii and Isabella Ragone -- with a solid chance at Amari Byles. As noted, they're still in the running for both Addison Bjorn and Jenica Lewis. Stay tuned...we'll know about Byles Saturday and the other two soon enough.

I know you JUST updated this, so sorry.

Trinity Jones – Official visits so far seems to be UCLA, Clemson, LSU, and Tennessee

Danyella Mporokoso – Marquette and Illinois State Visits. I know was offered by Harvard, Belmont, Valpo, Bradley, among others. Unofficial visits had been to Northwestern, Butler, and Marquette.

Ashley Knox will announce on Thursday, down to FSU, Auburn, and UCF.

Seems Jhai Johnson and Terri'A Russell will both announced on November 15th.

Terri'A has offers from Arizona, Cal, Oklahoma, UNLV, San Diego State, UC Riverside. Nothing publicly posted about visits or who she is considered.

Awesome. I wasn't sure if there was a change in staff or a change in approach, i.e. selected offers to wider net or shifting the types of players they were looking for. The low high school recruit numbers and then this off season of the "exodus" [I think only Koval was expected to return if considering general four years of eligibility], I was wondering if there was reason for concern. But this recruiting class [I had forgot Lewis, thank you], shows that it can really be just a year to year thing, but yeah, wasn't sure if the staff regrouped and re-strategized. Sounds like a bit of both, maybe with Garrity. But also Ivey being in the Head Coaching role longer can help form more relationships over time.

Thanks for that insight.

Oh, and Vukosa is committing tomorrow.

Lists Gamecocks as still an option, but I believe that visit is cancelled now?

Crittendon visited Oregon two weekends ago, and Washington this past weekend. Reportedly has an official visit scheduled to Texas in two weeks.

Ah thank you for that update, she must just have been late to posting her Oregon visit on her social media.

She really going on world tour

Supposedly, her boyfriend plays hoops at Colorado.

He can transfer to where she ends up signing to.

BTW, just living the HS recruiting vicariously by peeking into this thread since with a probable lame duck soon to retire coach were aren't "in" on anyone close to even being Top 100. Cyclones all expect Fennelly to retire at 70 after 2026-2027 season.

Really? Find that a little surprising considering the success Fennelly's had with Crooks and Brown. And with Williams making the move from Arizona, my impression was that ISU's brand resonates with players.

^Added a clarification. We all expect him to ride out the class of Crooks/Brown/Williams and retire at 70 after they graduate. With everyone "assuming" he's a retiree after 2027-2028 it has to be impacting recruiting. We haven't gotten a hint of real interest from a ranked HS player since the Crooks/Brown class, really nothing from 2024 or 2025 and currently on nobodies short list for 2026. Of course that doesn't hurt portal recruiting in the short term since it's a lot of one and two year players.

Congrats UConn!

Earlier you talked about throwing furniture and now this remark, sarcastic or not. Don't be like that. If you need any help on how to avoid sour grapes, or how to be cool calm and collected during the recruiting season..... Don't be afraid to ask for my advice. They don't call me Ice for nothing.

OH PLEASE. Not you again! You crash out almost every time South Carolina gets a commitment! 😂
You’ve had some INFAMOUS anti-SC (not just against the school, but the entire state) diatribes on tBY.

"greedy chickens" here…
"fat chickens" there…

You’ve only recently calmed down because all of the recruits are heading to Durham now. Spare all of us. LOL
