Non-UConn recruiting thread - 2025

Taylor Rooks (18 ESPN, 60 PN, 27), Brittany McPhee (25 ESPN, 50 PN, 77 BSBB), Kaylee Johnson (30 ESPN, NR PN, 126 BSBB).
Johnson was a contributor for 4 years and McPhee was a standout by her Senior year. Rooks didn't pan out for them but that was a solid class.

McPhee was outstanding by her senior year! I was a bit surprised she didn’t do more in the W!
There have been quite a few players I've been surprised never broke into the W.

I actually met her while out hiking, soon after she'd been cut during camp. She was going to play in Europe shortly after that.

I think 2015 was a tough recruiting year for Stanford.

Sniezek the highest ranked, 38th ESPN, 61st by ProspectNation, 47th BSBB
Shannon Coffee, NR ESPN, 3 star PN [not sure of rank[, and 94th by BSBB
Alexa Romano, NR ESPN, NR PN, 178 BSBB

Different from this past recruiting class, I'm not sure the 2014 class for Stanford was that strong.

Taylor Rooks (18 ESPN, 60 PN, 27), Brittany McPhee (25 ESPN, 50 PN, 77 BSBB), Kaylee Johnson (30 ESPN, NR PN, 126 BSBB).
Alanna Smith was part of the 2015 recruiting class. Because she was international she wasn't rated by the services but she was definitely regarded as a top recruit. And as others said, the 2014 class was solid - all three were the Gatorade athletes of their respective states. Rooks didn't pan out and Kayl had injuries throughout her career but I'd gladly take another McPhee and Kayl this recruiting cycle.

Edited to add: a bit of deep googling revealed that McPhee is now a second year resident training to be an orthopedic surgeon. Another alum doing the Farm proud.

Don't want to derail this thread too much but just wanted to say:

I wasn't trying to knock any of those players. But from the statement of "Consensus Top 40 recruits" they weren't. Of course, I forgot about Alanna Smith in that class, who probably would have been if she was ranked, so the initial statement from me becomes moot. But that was the season when wasn't Katie Lou considering Stanford [granted, those closer to the program may have expected that she wasn't going to follow her sisters], Johnson was great on the boards and brought big value to the court. McPhee had a phenomenal senior season and really helped keep that team alive, they still went to the Sweet 16, right? Which, maybe wasn't the expectation after their road trip to Columbus then hosting UConn.

It was really more to say when evaluating the class recruiting rankings, those classes didn't seem strong. Where as this season, this class is following one of the better recruiting classes with a high number of players, the 2014/2015 classes weren't as big and weren't as highly regarded out of high school.
I could have articulated that better though initially though, so thank you both for the responses.

Several schools are in play for 2 players, but Oregon is still in the mix for SIX players -- 3 7 15 30 37 96
Not sure what is up with that. Just one spot open. Hoping to get a good one out of this group. Looking ahead the Ducks lose some height to graduation and may be fixed on Cyndee Bryant for the class.

Niele and staff are doing the damn thing.
HC Niele Ivey and ND recruiting coordinator Michaela Mabrey have been working with Jenica Lewis for quite some time ("Mutual interest" as Muffet McGraw once called a positive recruiting relationship). All concerned stuck with it and -- as an Irish fan -- I'm looking forward to her joining some super-talented wings (Ragone, Abii, Byles) next year. She's a good fit and will have a year to play with Hidalgo and KK Bransford.

About 5 years ago, Jenica Raine Lewis was totally sold on UConn and was listed as one of the best shooters in her age group. Good get for the Irish. I was hoping she would choose Iowa (or UConn).
Yes, she can drill it from mid- and long-range, for sure. Her ball handling and decision making continues to get better, as well.

I have no actual basis to speculate on this, but my understanding is we are quietly targeting a longshot recruit not on our announced radar, and I wonder if it could be her. I would guess her family cares about academics, and if she needs to take certain tests or achieve enough AP credits, it would make sense why she'd wait to commit until she can determine if she will be admissible. And we now have several ties to European basketball, so there's an established pathway there.

Could just be a human-intelligence hallucination on my part, however. ;)

I will not guess as to where she will go. I will say that one team is going to get a big talented player.

Who has good intel on where Bri Crittendon and Addison Bjorn will sign? Seems like the home-state schools Colorado and Kansas seem likely.

Early signing period starts today. Okeke may be waiting to see whether she can get NIL.
Last Tear Paopas suit indicates she can -at least in Louisiana.

I think she will sign this week.

No personal knowledge of situation but Kansas would surprise me. If they had a new dynamic coach then I could see it, but he's been there a decade and hasn't done anything amazing. To go there when you've gotten interest from/visited many top schools .... ?
