Non-UConn Injury Reports

Iowa lost their point guard to a season-ending ACL injury a couple weeks ago, and now another starting guard has a broken hand:

Iowa's Makenzie Meyer sidelined 'indefinitely' with broken hand

IOWA CITY — For the second time in less than two weeks, the Iowa Hawkeyes have been dealt a devastating blow.

Makenzie Meyer suffered a broken bone in her left (non-shooting) hand toward the end of women’s basketball practice Wednesday, The Gazette has learned.

A sophomore from Mason City, Meyer is out “indefinitely,” according to a source close to the program. She could be back within two weeks, or it could be longer.

Meyer’s absence further depletes the backcourt for the 21st-ranked Hawkeyes (12-1), who open Big Ten play Thursday at Wisconsin (7-6).

Missouri's Sophie Cunningham and Notre Dame's Lili Thompson both left yesterday's games with apparent knee injuries. No updates on the extent of their injuries.

I saw the Thompson injury on replay. Did not look good; her knee buckled as she pushed off for a layup. Muffet looked a bit rattled when she returned to the huddle, bending over as if to compose herself.

A fourth knee injury for ND in the past year? Unbelievable.

Best of luck and speedy healing to both Sophie and Lili.

ND Game on Sunday was at Wake Forest, so she'll probably get (is getting?) a full examination upon return to the ND-environs in northern Indiana.

Sad face.

This feels like the year of the injury in wcbb.

Per the South Bend Trib, we should find out today on Thompson.

At this point in the season it might make more sense for the Martin kid from WVU to take a redshirt. Same with the duo from UNC.Cheat

Tough call. The timeline for Martin's return was identified somewhat vaguely as December or January at the start of the season. At this point, obviously, it better be January or else they're probably better off resting her.

It's really too bad, because WVU figured to be a contender this year after returning all but one starter from last year's team. And after this year they'll suffer deeper losses to graduation, since Muldrow, Ray, and King are all seniors.

Asia Durr of Louisville was carried off the court after injuring her knee. It was a non contact injury which occurred while she was playing defense. Hope for the best. Louisville would take a huge hit if Durr was not able to play.

You mean a separate injury from the one she sustained in the first half?

No.
She was carried off the court by an assistant coach but it seems she's back playing in the second half !
I would have given her zero chance of returning after seeing her carried off.
