If the B1G told them if they built a campus stadium they would get an invite, the legislature might consider it. Otherwise there is no support for building another stadium. Just a very very long putt.
It isn't even a putt, it's attempting to chip it in with a sand wedge from scratch bunker 320 yards from the hole. It would require at least one miracle

How much is the Big 10 paying these days?

If they said such a thing and it was guaranteed then you would think that such an undertaking would pay for itself eventually.

But I’m still not sold on the campus being the right spot. Our Hartford mbb games are better than Gampel these days.

If an invitation from the B1G came along it would be a game changer on many levels.

I really don't believe it is on the horizon at the moment.

If we put together a decade of full houses and demonstrated a fan base that could be willing to undertake the inconvenience of Storrs (instead of a centrally located venue that is right off the highway) it would then make sense to look into putting a stadium on campus. Until then there are more pressing needs to address.

Oh, they would in a heartbeat if a Big Ten invite was on the line. Or at least they should, but this is the Connecticut state legislature that we're talking about.

That said, it's nothing that we need to worry about. That invite is never coming.

Like you said. It would be such a game changer, that it would make the math on a new stadium remarkably simple.

But I agree that it’s so unrealistic that it’s like wondering what you would do if you won the Powerball.

I imagine many here would take that Powerball money, buy some politicians and build a stadium.

I once asked an acquaintance why he so consistently (significantly) donated to candidates of the other party rather than the one that more closely reflected his views. He answered with a shrug and said "because they're cheaper."
