Non-Key Tweets

After working out at the gym, listened to Taylor Z. & Greg McElroy on Sirius 84 on the ride home @ 9:15. They were discusing CR & specifically the Big XII. Their theme was the upcoming meetings of Feb. 4th & the effects on Oklahoma. Would if ?be better for the Sooners to push for expansion & the formation of a conference TV network? OR, should the Sooners explore moving to the B1G or SEC for maximum monetization & stability? They made no bones about the fact that Oklahoma is driving this bus to its end game.

Now having seen what the dude has posted, it's the kiss of death....
Meh, a Dude post is like New England weather, if you don't like it, wait a half hour it will change.

This was my favorite:

UH was not wanted by Texas. Or Texas Tech, TCU, OkST, KU, KSU or ISU.

Uh, isn't that just the opposite of the crap you were spouting for a couple of months.

This is the most honest post he ever made because it is a 100% admission he has no idea what he is talking about.

Following information is the current working perception of the Big Ten in part due to information passed indirectly by OU contacts.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 5m5 minutes ago
Oklahoma is not willing to bargain. And won't do so on February 4th. CCG + EXP + B12N are not chips to be traded in for false stability.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 2m2 minutes ago
OU has a plan of action..they have been following it since start of 2015. 1) To reform B12. 2) Create B12 that serves best interest of OU

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 3m3 minutes ago
There is now a firm acknowledgement within OU that B12 reform is not going to happen.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 9s9 seconds ago
February 4th meeting, in regards for the future of Oklahoma in the B12, doesn't mean anything. The B12 meeting holds no value for OU.

The following quote comes directly from a old Oklahoma contact...a contact which has been way ahead of curve with OU info.......

"Expansion in Big 12 without a Big 12 Conf Network is like expanding an Orchestra without playable instruments"

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 3m3 minutes ago
Oklahoma, according to OU contacts, was open to almost all 11/12 combos on expansion. But was most interested in UCONN/CINCY.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 32s32 seconds ago
But Oklahoma was fine with other combos..Houston was also pushed..but East Coast...Eastern additions were of most interest to Oklahoma.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 4m4 minutes ago
Oklahoma is now turning the page. Without a B12 Conference Network with Expansion the B12 can't be the vehicle to serve OU bests interest.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 2m2 minutes ago
Will expansion happen Feb 4th? OU contacts say if it does..it won't be to fulfill OU desires. So probably not...since B12 fought for Dereg.

The orchestra line is pretty cool
We're DOOMED. I saw that line & immediately had a flash back to that scene in Titanic with the band playing on the fantail trying to calm the nerves of the unfortunates.

So Flugs "Impactful. Historic...." update from BTM on OU is that OU is not happy with B12 in its current state, OU wants expansion, OU wants a CG, and OU wants a network or they're out... and they're not bluffing. Hmmm, where have we heard that before... Oh ya, form OU's President over the past week +

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 1m1 minute ago
So what does OU do now? What have they been planning? What is plan B?...plan C? Here we go...

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 2m2 minutes ago
You remember what we said here in last 6 months how the B12 Expansion Train was well down the tracks... Read what Boren just said...

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 17m17 minutes ago
Boren in a Q&A talked about how they had an outside group look at expansion candidates...how they the EXP Comm had been working on it....

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 16m16 minutes ago
We now...because of the same OU contacts...can now tell you Oklahoma has been working on plan B...plan C for some time....

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 13m13 minutes ago
According to OU contacts. OU has not been directly talking with the Big Ten...with no Big Ten officials on the issues of Realignment. None

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 11m11 minutes ago
There has been no need to. B10 knows what they need to know about the value of OU/KU. Both sides since 2011 knows there is shared interest

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 9m9 minutes ago
Oklahoma & Kansas were not rejected by B10 in 2010/11. B10 needed East Coast EXP when it had its opening...

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 8m8 minutes ago
Let me repeat... Boren has had no direct communication with any Big Ten Official on the issues of future realignment. However...

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 6m6 minutes ago
Oklahoma has reasons to believe indirectly that they are the next in line to be realigned with the Big Ten Conference,..along with Kansas.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 4m4 minutes ago
Before we get to the question of when and how....we need to put out some info that OU contacts have told us that you would fine interesting.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 2m2 minutes ago
According to OU contacts, no one has worked harder along side Boren to reform the B12 than WVU Gee. As you know the reasons are clear why..

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 2m2 minutes ago
But there is another HUGE reason why Gee has been pulling and pushing the cart of B12 reform. Gee knows B10 future intentions on OU/KU.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 44s44 seconds ago
We didn't know it at the time...but it's the reason why UCONN got the huge late push by EXP COMM. UCONN is what Kansas wanted if EXP happens

Why do I feel like the ugly girl getting all the attention from the drunks at last call? After being ignored all evening, it feels good to be noticed, even though it is from the weirdest of people

This is why it's worth paying some attention to Flug, he doesn't actually spew out nonsense that he passes off as definitive fact. He readily tells you his stuff is partially speculative and based on beliefs from people (supposedly) in a position to know. Whether he's right on this stuff, who knows, but at least he admits it.

What actually gets me excited, despite the sources, this is the first time ever all the Twitter guys (Dude, Flug, Yoda, Etc) are all in agreement that it's us and Cincy when/if they expand. All we need is MH and we'd be golden!

If OK/KU go B1G where will that leave us? So close, yet so far.

If UConn is the apple of the Big XII's eye, it is all the more reason the Big Ten eases their non-existent AAU requirement and preemptively extends an invitation to UConn.
This was always the problem with that argument, for me.

It's pretty clear the Big 12, if they're going to expand, is interested in adding UConn. Ok, so where's our preemptive B1G or ACC invite? In the mail?

The Big 12 invite is the only potential invite. If the B1G or the ACC wanted us, we would've been invited. They were never waiting for someone else to want us first.

B1g is waiting on OK and Kansas, but I think we bring more $ for the BTN than either.

I disagree. We bring a bigger market, but is it bigger than adding KU basketball and OU football ratings?

These flug tweets don't add up. If OU is determined to wait 5 years or so and then go to the B1G anyway, then why would their president make such a scene when deregulation was passed?

Or help grease the AAU skids since there are many common players...

So when the Big 12 sues them, they have a track record of being against the Big 12 if they claim the conference wasn't acting in the best interest of all members?

I would say if OU and KU went to the B1G, while that wouldn't be great for our chances to get in there, it would likely set off another realignment bomb. Either the Big 12 would add schools en masse, which would seemingly include us, or the more likely scenario the remainder get picked off, opening more slots around the country, hopefully leading to one for us.

The theory is that it puts OK in a better light when they leave, because they can say that they did everything possible to make the Big 12 stronger. That's assuming that the other Big 12 schools don't go along with expansion now, or if a network doesn't pan out.

There really isn't anything new there. Ultimately, all of the bigger schools with some media clout are going to gravitate to the conference/situation whereby they have a network and maximize there payoff(ie b10 network). All of the other leagues are threatened by this same issue. You don't think the bigger Acc, Sec, et. al schools in the next 5 or 10 years are not going to start looking if there revenues drag? The only thing i know for sure is it doesn't bode well for Uconn to the b10. They are/will likely target bigger brands. It will be curious to see though what progress the other conferences make with their own networks.

None of the expansion resistance in the big 12 ever made any sense to me. I mean, I know everyone in that conference is Texas' whipping boy, but surely they can see that without expansion, the conference can't survive in the long run. Even with expansion, the Big 12 is probably screwed in 10 years, because realistically there's no way Texas and OU stick around.

So if you're one of the other Big 12 schools why not at least be proactive and give yourself a chance? Are they that blinded by the money and wanting to protect their share of the pie?
