Yeah- the national damage of our “budget minded” approach during this era has really become apparent at this critical hour.
Well, we really didn't limit ourselves money wise signing Diaco. He was one the worst D-1 hires ever and the buy-out was onerous.
Thank you , Manuel! DB did go on the cheap with Edsall 2.0, but our conference money sucked and we had the Diaco millstone to deal with.

To save others from the listen....Mark Coyle AD of Minnesota stated in an interview that he doesn't think the B1G is done growing. He said he has no particular insight, but he thinks more additions are likely.
That was brutal, he just keeps repeating himself. Should've been a 30 second video.

Not to mention the Ollie situation

Exactly....I skimmed it...tried to FF to the key spots and turn it into a 2 min experience.

Does this mean there may be a spot for UConn in the ACC even if they add Stanford, Cal and even SMU. Fla State, Clemson could leave..

One of the worst ever is harsh. Guy did make a bowl. USF just fired a guy who was way worse. Edsall 2.0 was exponentially worse.

I don't think it's too harsh because with Diaco you could smell the crazy on him. He should've never made it past an initial inquiry.
THAT is fair. I truly believe, the way he recruited, he thought he was going to come here and year one win 3 games, year two win 6 games, year three win 9 games and be on to his next job. Once P's last recruits exhausted their eligibility there wasn't much left.

Diaco was the worst coach in college football history.

Among his many problems is that I am certain he is the only coach in history to ever call a fake, fake field goal.
He was a flake. And still put game plans together that looked far better than Edsall's. Also Shirreffs was better than any QB RE recruited not named Orlovsky or Lorenzen.

P on the other hand recruited Cochrane, Boyle and Lagow in back to back classes. Amazing how some guys can spot QB talent and others are terrible at it.

If he actually knew what he was doing he would be a much beloved eccentric coach. It's only when you see the train wreck that he produced that you realized he was bat sh.it crazy.

At beginning it was kinda cool having Diaco as our coach… having the crazy coach..uconn was always in the news with his nutty interviews…but then he couldn’t coach… not running back punts… that goal line screw up against Navy…then the conflict was the last straw

The ACC is a dead conference. They are not in better shape than the big 12. None of the big 12 schools are going to be poached. The ACC has 4 maybe 6 schools that are not going be there long term.

I believe the ACC's long-term survival depends on ND. Thus, based on history the ACC is doomed.

Like, duh. The B1G wants ND. The conference also wants the DC and Atlanta markets and would not say no to UNC who can bring the RDU and Charlotte markets while adding a huge basketball brand name. It’s even possible the B1G would want a land bridge to its new western arm. This is not over.

What's the AAC exit fee again? Seems like Luck gets the next Pac4 chair rather than Aresco.
That’s an interesting concept
1 What kind of media money could they command ?
2. Would the Big 12 snd ACC allow it to exist ?
4. If the price was right should UConn join ad a football only ?
5 Should they add BB teams like Gonzaga ?

Frustrating how quckly people and media change their views by simply adding a P status to a school.

So that league was paneer as garbage. Every one of those schools except two are now making 30-40M year.
UConn Temple SMU USF, which 2 of these schools is making 30-40M a year?

There is nothing Oregon State and Washington State can do to keep the PAC 12 as a power conference. Even if Stanford and Cal remain in the PAC, it is still not conceivable to be a power conference with any combination of Group of 5 schools plus those 4 (or 2).

I wouldn't mind if they did, because I would consider Connecticut joining as a football only, if possible. Travel would be miserable for basketball and Olympic sports, but having to go coast to coast for six away games a year isn't so bad.
